Personally, I felt Kong should have swept the Oscars--all categories, in fact. In fact, it should have been an ALL King Kong Oscar ceremony.

I'm with you there.

Kong's been my favorite classic monster since I first saw the '33 version when I was five. That one was just a neat technical achievement.

I will admit to owning and loving the cheesy 70s remake--but this new one was absolutely heartbreaking and beautiful (albeit a little flawed in places). Kong was finally given a back story and a personality and a soul--and the result was magnificent. Naomi Watts should have gotten a nod for her work--she, in essence, helped create his character through her performance.

Oh, I could go on and on about it, but I already hear a bunch of freepers groaning... ;-)

Again, Kong was a brainless popcorn movie. It didn't deserve anything more than the technical awards, but then again, neither did those stupid Hobbit films and the last one won best picture.
