Turkey has an appallingly bad reputation for taking care of their antiquities--whitewashing beautiful mosaics, tearing down ancient churches, etc.

The barbarity shown against ancient cultures is not about being Turk---it's more about being mulism. There is nothing Muslim Turks have created except to destroy and convert Christian churches to mosques. But they do know how to exploit naive tourists who go there to visit the specific ancient sites that are protected by the parastate of Turkey such as Ephesus. Their muslim progeny in kosovo are doing the same thing to Christian sites there..bombing, defiling, and destroying them.

Well, that's not exactly true. They have built some very beatiful "new" mosques--but generally not before demolishing the Christian church that was on the site originally.
