Still round the corner there may wait |

Home is behind, the world ahead, |
Like so! ;-)
Though I don't care for the Herbin inks I've tried...they tend to look a little washed out on paper. I have mostly Noodlers and Private Reserve...some Waterman...really want some Waterman South Seas Blue, though. Badly. It's GORGEOUS on paper...I have some cartridges, but no bottled stuff.
Back to my futile attempt at perfection...
And then...you can mix inks, too...
I'm still working on developing the perfect blue-green mix. And purple. And a nice rich brown...though I do like some of the regular browns I have.
8 sheets in 3-4 days?
Animals.
Actually, we only hung sheetrock for one day... did insulation the day before.
***runs away screaming***
Well it's always good to use insultation for safe sheetrocking...
We just want to make sure the room stays warm. And we did electrical wiring too. Took me a while to figure that out, not having done it before. And playing with powertools was fun.
Tell me more about Noodlers and Private Reserve ... talk to me as you would to your stationery store proprietor ...
ooooo baby!
Once you check in to NaNo, you can never leave ... it's like Hotel California ...
(As an aside to the yoots here: "Hotel California" was a horror-rock megahit by the Eagles, a proto-rockabilly band back in the day ... if I wasn't listening to Diana Ross and The Supremes right now, I'd cue up "Desperado" and sing at the top of my lungs ...)
Desperado, why don't you come to your senses?
You been out ridin' fences for so long now
Oh, you're a hard one
I know that you got your reasons
These things that are pleasin' you
Will hurt you somehow
Don't you try the queen of diamonds boy
She'll beat you if she's able
You know the queen of hearts is always your best bet
Now it seems to me, some fine things
Have been laid upon your table
But you only want the ones that you can't get
Desperado, oh, you ain't gettin' no younger
Your pain and your hunger, they're drivin' you home
And freedom, oh freedom well, that's just some people talkin'
Your prison is walking through this world all alone
Don't your feet get cold in the winter time?
The sky won't snow and the sun won't shine
It's hard to tell the night time from the day
You're losin' all your highs and lows
Ain't it funny how the feeling goes away?
Desperado, why don't you come to your senses?
Come down from your fences, open the gate
It may be rainin', but there's a rainbow above you
You better let somebody love you
(let sombody love you)
You better let somebody love you
before it's too late
First off, this is one of my favorite places on the internet, but I wish they had a better website...it's a little disorganized in places.
http://www.pendemonium.com
As for inks, well, I like that some of the Noodler's colors are permanent, unlike most fountain pen ink. Really, truly permanent - can't get them off paper with bleach, even. Luckily they only do that on paper... And they have a lot of fun labels and colors. The colors ARE really saturated, though, and the ink doesn't flow *quite* as well as Waterman, which is my gold standard in that regard. It's smooooth. Nice stuff.
Private Reserve, I have mixed feelings about. I love a lot of their colors...but the ink tends to take forever to dry. I also had to pitch a few bottles due to problems with mold. That can happen with any ink - they're just water based, for one, and if anything foreign gets in - dust, for example - that can turn the whole bottle into a mess. Seems to happen more with those, though.
Swisher Pens carries a bunch of ink that they came up with in collaboration with the Noodler's guy...they have nice stuff, too. Don't have the cool small shop feel as Pendemonium, though, and no vintage bottles and other neato stuff to look at.
OK, final draft. Really!
Was that more than you wanted?
I could start in on the pens themselves next if you want...
Or paper...
;-)
And I always tear up at "And freedom?/Oh, freedom!/Well, that's just some people talkin' ..."
Local Country DJ says "Desperado" is the "best song ever written..."
I love MP3 playing software ...
~yawn~
It's not the company. I'm just up too late. We saw "Movin' Out" tonight. It's the Broadway show with Billy Joel's music. It was pretty good.
The lead vocalist and the band were incredible. They performed on a platform above the stage with the dancers below. Dancers and songs told the story.
Probably not my favorite type of show. But it was well done. If you're a Billy Joel fan, you'd love it.
g'nite folkses
Still working on that thing? We're tired and heading to bed.
Well ... yeah ... but then there's "A Boy Named Sue." And "Just My Imagination." And "Signed, Sealed, Delivered." And "Raspberry Beret." And "Sunday Morning Coming Down." And "Dock Of The Bay."
And does the best song ever written have to have lyrics? 'Cause I'm really fond of Dave Brubeck's "Take Five." And Junior Walker's "Shotgun!" And Henry Mancini's "Peter Gunn." And, dang, did I leave out Herr Beethoven? Chuck Berry?
Okay, Corin, now my poor jukebox is gonna get loaded ...
I've seen Pendemonium, and I don't want to compete directly with them, but I would like to carry speciality/novelty writing devices, such as glass pens and quill pens.
And I like the chi-chi little journals with the classy etched leather covers. VEY nice, and a vey nice profit margin, too!
Are you a notebook snob? If I say Moleskine to you, what would you do?
