Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Through shadows to the edge of night
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

K. I'm gonna attempt using the dip pen, and I'm using a new alphabet (Celtic vs Italic), so it's gonna take me a bit of practice. I'll let you know when I'm headed over. ;-)
To: RosieCotton
I think I'm subconsciously worried about being eaten by cats or something equally stupid.
And I decided yesterday that I had to re-read "Passage" so I'll probably dream about that tonight. Connie Willis novels are a little too vivid in imagery and theme not to affect my dreams.

Wow, they'd have to be really busy to get through all that sheetrock! I think Talon and I only used 8 sheets and that took us a good long time.

... are you doing calligraphy for a book cover?
(good evening!)
To: Bear_in_RoseBear
In theory. My brother does graphic design work, and he has one that he wants some lettering for. But he's prolly overestimating my talents. ;-) Still trying, though. I just finished what I hope will be the last draft...now gonna attempt the real one.
Which means I'll likely do another five or so...
To: RosieCotton
Very cool!
To: RosieCotton
Graphic design? Like what?
To: RosieCotton
I learned calligraphy when I was in an after school art class in the 6th grade. I haven't done any in years, but I'd love to pick it up again, just to try it sometime. I think I still have the nibs, though I don't think I have the pen any longer.

You know, we missed JaNoWriMo.
We should come up with our own Writing Month, NaNo'ers ...

We'd have to fit our month around our moves.
May might work for me ...
That Sweetheart Romance contest looks tasty ... but I would need another pseudonym ...!
