The Hobbit Hole XXVIII - Through shadows to the edge of night
http://freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net/ ^

Posted on 02/24/2006 9:52:11 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Through shadows to the edge of night

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Yeah, I've seen some of the other books. It intrigued me because I saw the ad for the Broadway show.

A friend on the alumni board who is a high school drama teacher says it's become her favorite show.

Some people realize the importance of there being folks who can do things they cannot, and they like to show their appreciation! Just enjoy it!

Hmmm... the idea sounds vaguely familiar but I can't think quite where I've seen it before. Haven't read the comic though so thanks for the recommendation.

Hair, we need to around here with the clay soils and to provide the stability for the privacy fence, two sacks in each hole, each hole dug 36 inches deep; we're glad to hear you don't need to set them that way out there.

Rosie, sort of, it doesn't have as many blades, in fact only a couple of shallow ones. The gas/electric one do look like a wood drill bit.

Well...besides getting overpaid for helping plug in PCs, I've been doing OK, I guess. Continuing to build a coupla systems a week, which is kinda fun except for the front panel audio wiring, which is a pain in the rear.

But I've also had a few systems that I wasn't able to figure out what the problem was, and then had people who didn't want to pay for anything further - like an OS reload - so *that* stresses me out, too, 'cause I just know they are upset that we didn't find anything during the diagnostic period that would fix it, and usually they still get charged for us taking a look, even if our answer was "it needs parts" or "it needs to be reloaded".

Money is always a part of business, but I'd rather that it be dealt with in another department. ;-)

It's in!

We've been home for several hours, but this was the first opportunity I got to post.

Submitting it to the Graduate College required that he go to a specific website, which gives him the ability to convert his Word doc into a pdf file, then that same website submits the pdf file to his Graduate College (they had a whole list of schools). It took several steps, but it ultimately went through.

I really think it's *done*, now...he just has to do the defense. No word on when that will be yet.

I'm kinda curious, I admit. They're gonna address the Scientology brouhaha, no?

On another subject...does your fax thingie scan, too?

He has time to call his sister?!

Man, their priorities are seriesly messed up. I never give my folks reports until after the moot is pretty much over. Heck, when we got engaged, I didn't call them for two days.

Well, you're welcome if you can handle some unscreened risk. I don't know what they're gonna do, probably cover the latest bruhaha.

Yes - it's a pretty good scanner.
