Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Through shadows to the edge of night
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

She came over to be petted, and the next thing I know, she's climbed up me and wrapped herself around my neck, purring. And I thought my cats were odd...Abbies are supposed to be very affectionate towards everyone, sorta like puppies. Also very people-centered.
To: HairOfTheDog
Glad I made you laugh. ;-)
I think you had pointed one out at a store, then. I clearly remember lookin' at one recently...it had a twisty blade and a motor.
They rent those out, though, right? That'd probably be worth it. The bang in type posts will still be a LOT of work, but it'd save some labor.
To: RosieCotton
Some of it goes fast, some slow. It'd certainly be good to get it done before you start the new job, or we could pick at it on weekends for a few weeks if you want to work.
It could take us most of a day to get the gate in... Another day we might get all the other corners plotted and set. A day to pound in all the T posts... A day to stretch wire.
And those estimates are if we really work all day at it and we don't have setbacks.
And here's the costs I've worked up... The best way and the cheaper way, that uses lighter materials and wouldn't be as sturdy. If you can afford it, I'd got with the heavier duty stuff, at least the heavier posts.

Here's a couple of pictures of the pvc trellis I built last year.
.
I used the pvc pipe for the frame and attached the plastic chicken wire with plastic fasteners. I bought some of those metal rods they use for electric fences and drove them into the ground and slipped the pipe over that for stability.
The piece in the middle was extra and also added for stability.

*sigh*
I s'pose. But it doesn't take much to plug in a mouse and keyboard and monitor. Certainly wouldn't be worth over a hunnert dollars to me, and that's our on-site hourly labor charges.
I know it's all relative!
How's the job stuff going?
To: osagebowman
Yes indeed, verrrry interesting... the guy in the hatch may not be an "Other", but I don't think he's a good guy either...

Do I know what we're talking about?

Nah, I don't think you watch that show... Ruthy does, but she's afk at the moment...
To: HairOfTheDog
Ouch...yeah, that hurts a bit. I had the fence and gate prices kinda in mind, but hadn't figured on how the smaller things would add up.
But it's still something I could put on the credit card...and it really should be done, for security as well as for more fun purposes. Just wish the landlord could see that, too...so I felt like that bought me a little more on my side of the agreement. Oh well.
Dell's prices are probably the best around for the high quality stuff they have, right?
I still think *if* the rental wasn't wayyyyy expensive, it could be really worth it. I wouldn't want to pay hundreds of dollars for it, but if they rent 'em for twenty five a day or something, that might be worth doing. I've dug a few post holes, and though it wasn't in the best conditions (this would likely be a bit easier), it's still not something I'd wanna do twenty-some times or more. ;-)
To: Corin Stormhands
I like that...simple, but very effective. Yer a smart dwarf.
To: RosieCotton
That's all I've got to say about that!
To: Bear_in_RoseBear
Heh...I'll get to watch it soon enough. ;-)
To: Bear_in_RoseBear; osagebowman; RMDupree
oh good. I thought I'd missed a memo...

Hey, no spoilers!
You referring to "Henry Gale"? I'm suspicious of him. That's the name of Dorothy's uncle from The Wizard of Oz. He supposedly crashed his balloon on the island, which is how the Wizard got to Oz...
