The Hobbit Hole XXVIII - Through shadows to the edge of night
http://freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net/ ^

Posted on 02/24/2006 9:52:11 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Through shadows to the edge of night

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Are you going to see him tonight or does he get in too late?

Spaz perfectly describes the whole "immenence of smoochmoot" thing...

He is getting in very late, but I have to see him. Ya think I'd be able to sleep anyway knowing he's a few blocks away?

hehehehe....

Well, when I went out to see Talon earlier this month, I rolled into town midnightish and went straight to a hotel. I was so tired after 12 hours in the car!

I'm sure he'll be very tired. A whole day's travels would wear anyone out.

I'll be dropping him off at the hotel and coming home to get some sleep myself. I still have to drop the girls' off in the morning. :-/

To: JenB; All
Did my first and probably last on-site computer support deal today. All I did was unplug an old computer and plug in a new one and run through the initial setup. The lady tipped me ten dollars on top of what we charge for hourly on-site labor...made me feel rather guilty.

She had a reallllly cute, teeny tiny little Abyssinian cat. Absolutely gorgeous. I'd never seen one of those in person before. She came over to be petted, and the next thing I know, she's climbed up me and wrapped herself around my neck, purring. And I thought my cats were odd...

Woo-hoo! Through the weekend, too?

I realize I'm being ridiculously impatient.

You have a power hole digger thingie, right? Not that that won't get awfully heavy awfully quickly, too...

Just trying to guesstimate how long it could take. It may be worth taking off early next week, and they're already aware that I'm considering that. Told 'em I had stuff I'd like to get done around the house before I start another full time job, and it'll be after the two week notice point...

Cool! I'm glad it was a cat-lady and not some frat boy. Tips are awesome.

But for just unboxing a computer and plugging it in?

I seriously feel really guilty about it. I'll be glad when I'm not in retail type computer work anymore.

Heading out to the airport!

The girls are going to stay with my sister (bles her heart!).

They are just too wound up.

You did that lady a real service, Rosie. You and I, when confronted with a computer in a box, can't wait to tear into it and put it together and format the hard drive and reinstall Windows the way we want it, and install the drivers just so, and install Office.

Some people just want it to work, and are willing to pay us to have the fun of putting it together.

It's a fair trade ...
