The Hobbit Hole XXVIII - Through shadows to the edge of night
http://freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net/ ^

Posted on 02/24/2006 9:52:11 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Through shadows to the edge of night

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Glad to hear that, living in the red zone is not the way we'd want to see this turn out.

Sheesh...

It's too bad you don't have a wireless card in the laptop, you could probably find some neighbor's unsecured network and leech off them!

I like sugar baby watermelons. Back home I only planted them once and had volunteers every summer after that!

I may have to go back on days next week, so I'll have to sneak-freep using my Palm Pilot and the hospital's unsecured wireless network.

I stuck mine in knee high stockings and tied the stocking to the trellis. They grew inside the knee high.

Now that's just dang ingenious!

G'nad: WOW, that's gonna be some building project y'all got lined out. That's is going to look great. Beats the heck out of mixing sack-crete one wheelbarrow at a time. :-)

Give a shout when you want the HH barn-raising crew to show up.

Been raining all day, a bit a sleet toward OT's place. We're not ~ supposed to ~ much snow at all, 1 or 2 inches. North to get a bit more. The rain is much appreciated.

Well, I done hired out thenewfloor and thenewbackdoor...that's muh limit fer the year.

Good news is the "ramp ministry" from church is gonna put in a ramp for Nana. They build ramps for people who can't afford them.

But I talked to them and told them I could buy the supplies, but wouldn't have a clue what to do with them. (they know all the building regs, etc.) These are the guys that do set construction for our Christmas show.
