Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Through shadows to the edge of night
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Cockroach recipe
Scale ingredients to servings
15 ml Kahlua® coffee liqueur
15 ml Drambuie® Scotch whisky
Pour both ingredients into shot glass and mix. Sing a verse of La Cucaracha, or sing la-la-la-la-laaa lots. Bonus points if you can sing it in Spanish. Continue until you can no longer sing la-la-la-la-laaaaa.

Nope, it certainly tweren't.
Never did warm up enough to give the highlander a shower. Doesn't look like we'll get any rain either.

News!
...Steve went to get his hair cut and I was checking my email. Got an email from his brother...he hasn't seen his brother in YEARS...since we went to Wisconsin to spread his dad's ashes. This is the brother that is the professor at Stanford, you know? Steve thinks highly of this brother, admires him greatly. Well, his brother is going to try to fly here for Steve's graduation and surprise him!!

Greetings, Master Bowman. Tried a new place here today. My overnight guests being extra short and easily impressed, I took them-- after errands at the Big Giant Store With Everything and the Other Store With Everything Else-- to
Nothing But Noodles, which of course has salads and other non-noodly things, and fizzy drinks to wash it down with. Got three varieties of noodle stuff-- mac'n'cheese, stroganoff*, and alfredo-- and it has been newly declared Coolest Place Ever.
They have Thai, and Cajun, and other spicy varieties as well, and a presence in several states.
*Betcha the Russians spell it with a B, pronounced v :)
