The Hobbit Hole XXVIII - Through shadows to the edge of night
http://freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net/ ^

Posted on 02/24/2006 9:52:11 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Through shadows to the edge of night

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Now that he's home safe, we're going to kill him.

I got the wrinkles out of the gown! We won't have to buy a gown! Yeah!

I finally just figured "Nothing ventured nothing gained" and if I didn't get the wrinkles out we were gonna have to buy another one, so if I burned a hole in it, we weren't out anything. So I ironed it on medium heat with steam. Quick. Went over it quick and stopped a lot, you know....iron iron STOP cool.

It did GREAT! It actually looks better than the first time he wore it 11 years ago (although it's a little tighter)! Heh heh! All we have to buy is the tassel and hood!

Masters Units (cap, gown, hood and tassel) $47.25
Individual Gown $24.50
Individual Hood $20.50
Individual Cap $4.75
Individual Tassel $4.00

I covered it in plastic, put the cap in a little sack and hung them up together in the closet. So it's ready when and if he ever graduates! LOL

Evenin' folkses...

Well... it was brutal... but dad's pc is back up and fresh and happy.

Had to reformat, and that didn't work at first. Then had to wipe out the partition and re-partition, reformat, and then the reinstall finally took.

Been hunting up all the software that needed reinstalled... it's been a slow day.

BUT: and it's a BIG BUT: Thanks to our new automated backup routine there was NO loss of data. Just copied the files from the latest backup back over from the external harddrive... BANG. DONE.

Backups ROCK. :-)

Cool! You got it done up right and ready for the big day, chica!

Becky and I just came back from the video store. We decided to be impulsive and go get the sequel to Legally Blonde.

We got Bambi II while we were there. ;-)

Hair/Ecurb; Homer was out scouting for the critter that gave Cartman the hard time. Who know, ol' Homer may have settled the score.

I hope you realize your very plausable scenario resulted in my nasal declogging with Stewart's Ginger Beer.

Stewart's Ginger Beer.

Say... I'll bet that's refreshing. In an eye-watering sort of way.

In other news today; LSA and I headed to ~ town ~ to visit the vampire place and reach the halfway mark for another coffee cup.(community blood bank) Every traffic light was green, the whole way, spooky to say the least. Vampire place must have used the wrong sized needle or hit the wrong vein on LSA since it wouldn't draw worth a darn, 18 minutes to complete instead of the usual 5 minutes.

Well, we generally partake of a store bought lunch near there, Plaza or Westport. I suggested Thai, a place with excellent reviews from co workers. The restaurant did their best to make it authentic; I got the spicy thai stirfry and LSA got the red curry with chicken and an ~extra~ surprise. Yup, a cucaracha in the curry. We advised the waitress, who apologized, wisked it away and returned with another bowl of red curry; suffice to say that was not what we had in mind, the manager was appropriately chagrined, compted the meal and told us the next one was him as well. Not sure how soon ~ that ~ is going to happen.

Next time, we'll do Indian cuisine.
