This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
I don't know. A lot of people/places will accept a Coggins Test within the past 6mos, but I've never heard of a Health Certificate good for that length of time.
Coogins here are good for a year. I'm sure of that.
We've been told Coggins was good for a year too.
Alright:)!!!!!! Sounds great. I'm really excited about this.

I'm running up to my Dad's this morning. I haven't been there in quite a while, and had this planned before I knew it would be the day my saddle was ready. But When I get back home, hopefully between 3-4, I'll stop and pick up my saddle. Then I'm riding this evening:)
Beth is suppose to bring back my E. Saddle this morning and let me know what she has decided.

Sharn, nice to hear from you again. Good luck with selling and moving.
It's cold again and the weather man was right. Snow on the ground..ugh!
Good morning!~
Snow........We have been going from wearing hat, gloves etc and sledging one weekend, to wearing t-shirts and shorts when the weather hits 90 here as it already has done.
Feels weird.
Good morning. :-D
Sorry about the snow. I'd send you some Florida heat and sunshine if I could!
Wow!!! Those roses are GORGEOUS! I'm glad you dropped back in on us and shared that one. Just the other day I was wondering how things were going in your neck of the woods. It's good to hear from you again.
I'm looking forward to seeing your new saddle. It'll be great for you to finally have one that fits him. Good luck on selling the other one. It'd be nice to have the cash to help pay for the new one.
Are you going back to western or staying with English?
I sent you directions and instructed them to give Mom a key.
I think it's very smart to do what you are comfortable doing. You can enjoy horses without riding them:')I'm fixing to head out of here. I have my camera and "chomping at the bit" to go land looking. Good luck with your house.
I've been wanting to read "Marley and Me". It looks really good.
Hello.
......how do I say this, I don't know if this saddle fits....damn, how come everyone I know just throw any ole saddle on any ole horse and ride and have no problems.
He had dry spots tonight after I got done riding. Almost exactly to what they were with my old saddle.....
I just don't know what to do at this point.
Becky
Oh dear. I'm gobsmacked. Take pictures... and I think, take the horse and saddle to their place. - tomorrow.
I'm really sorry. This has already been such a trial for you.
LOL....gobsmacked...what the hell does that mean:)...even my spell check has underlined it:)
I have pictures loading now of what it looked like on the horse before I went riding. I just didn't have the heart to take one of his back when I got done. I plan on calling Stanley tomorrow and asking what he suggests I do.
When I put it on, my heart stopped. It looked like it tipped forward a bit...maybe I'm putting it in the wrong spot...
I could really tell it was wider.
I don't know what to do...I'm "gobsmacked" too, :)
Becky
I've never seen a definition, but I think it means like it sounds. ;~D
Looking forward to pictures.
I took this one to show how they fix the stirrups to hang at the right angle.
