The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

...Did you put both halves in one hole?

I missed this question eariler. Yes, I put both mine in the same hole. I just put a little dirt, maybe an inch, between them.

Ok, I trimmed them off. They were green in the center, so have I killed it for real now, or will it come back???

Beth really liked my E. saddle. I left it at her house for her to show her husband. She is bringing it back tomorrow and letting me know what she decides. She rode her horse in it. Yes the girth is too long, but she went ahead. i was very surprised at how well it stayed in place even with the loose girth. Just another thing that shows, to me anyway that it did not fit Harley. It rolled really big time on him, even with a tight girth.

No - you didn't kill it by cutting those off - I bet it'll send up new ones, you've merely delayed them. I break them off all the time moving them in the spring.

Good news about the saddle :~D

Loggin' off from the beach house now...

Doing good friend, how about you? We have been back and forth from here to our farm in Virginia, and then showing this house to what seems like millions of folk, so I havent been around much.
I did get a chance to brush all of the winter coat out of Sugar though, and now she loooks less like a ragamuffin and beautiful again.

Busy busy busy around here. I never seem to be able to slow down this time of year. It's worse than Christmas. I am reading a really good book called "Marley and Me." It's about a man and his dog, Marley. It's absolutely one of the best books I've ever read.

Didn't you have a new horse sometime back? How is it going?

Yes, I bought a little black and white paint filly at auction. She's doing fine, got used to our routine and has settled in nicely.

I have to run, it's time for gymnastics and tae kwon do. Don't be such a stranger!

While I was lunging Harley this afternoon, I was thinking I needed to start spraying again:(. Seems we get a rash of flies in the early spring then they die off for awhile then come back with a vengeance in July.

As bad as I hate using fly masks I've noticed it stops the runny eyes.

I've never really had problems with runny eyes. A friend of mine had a pony who really had problems and the fly mask cured it without question. If it ever was a problem for mine I'd get one.
