The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

Hey - just talked to Tiff, and she said no problem borrowing Kat the week of July 9. She said if they do have a vacation that involves the horses, it'd be the last part of July first part of August.

:~D So you got a horse :~D

That sounds like a good plan! Have you found anything yet, or are you still looking?

Still looking. It's not exactly what I wanted but it's workable. I'm beginning to think most of the stuff on the net is bait though. Either it's sold or has problems. I have to go to an inservice this week in Austin. I'm going to spend Saturday just driving around looking, picking up newspapers and that sort of thing.

We had our property on with an agency but 98% of the interest came from the land and farm website.

I think these days you have to be so quick to get your offer in quick.

I will be relieved when its all over, I have to start packing and am not sure where to begin! LOL

Been there. Now that we have decided to stay here though, I'm directing my energies elsewhere. Time to "trim" this place up:')

Last time I was on here........a million posts ago it seems, you were concerned that Sarah Lee (not sure if I have got the name right) was deaf...... how is she doing?

Have you been riding much? I've had to back way off but now that I have more daylight I'm picking back up. I'm still continuing my lessons. I don't know if I will ever graduate:')

No, it's my dog. She goes to the Vet Thursday, but she's acting better. Go figure.

Not as much as I would have liked, it seemed that as soon as we got time, we would get a call for another potential buyer coming to see the property and that would be the whole weekend taken up.
I have had to keep the house in top show condition which is not easy, when homeschooling and having boys who like to be muddy!
As for graduating, I don't think I will ever make the grade, but I am so much more comfortable around Sugar now, she is the one that has helped me move on so much further.
Emma and James are much more horsey than me I think, to be honest, I still prefer to walk or ride a bike. When you have a deep rooted, justified fear, it is hard to shake it completely.

On a different note, we are watching newborn calves arrive most mornings which is wonderful! Such a beautiful sight!

It is so good to hear from you. The rose bush is lovely. I sure hope you get the house sold soon and can get settled so you can get back on the thread :)

I just do what I'm comfortable doing now. I stopped pressuring myself. If I'm 90 and still learning, so be it:') I felt like I was 3 today though. Sarah Lee was spooked about something when I was walking her to the barn. I made her look up close and she didn't like it. She stomped her foot at me. I didn't even realize I did it until afterwards but I stomped mine back at her when I told her "don't you stomp your foot at me". It got her attention though. It was probably the "quit" that followed but I thought it was pretty funny to be stomping my foot at a horse though.

Excellent request for the vet. As long as your horses are stabled with others coming and going, vaccinate for everything :)

I told him I wanted a health certificate too but changed my mind. I was told they were only good for 30 days? I thought it was for a year.

No, the certificates state (on every one that I've gotten) Certificate Void 30 days from Issue Date. We have to have them for some shows and some endurance rides - especially hauling out of state, and provide them on horses we sell.
