This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
I love that last pic of him with one ear toward you as if he's saying "What ARE you doing to me, lady?"
LOL, I hadn't noticed that:)

The bus for sale on ebay was in the sunken fleet close to the stadium. The listing has a picture of the fleet and a circle around the bus listed.
Miss Targets usually sends out a morning Ping every day if you're interested.
Very similar build and face shape to my guy - I love that white stripe, though!
He has manners to learn...still doesn't know to keep all four feet on the ground when greeting someone, for one, but he strikes me as really smart. He'll be a good boy once he's settled in a bit and learned the basics.
Note to self (add squarebarb at work PC).
I think pound dogs are the smartest. They also seem eager to please.
You buy one of those grey hounds?
Squarebarb, you are on my list at work. Let me know if you do not get a ping.
Well, if he acts like a BC, he needs a BC name - something short and descriptive - BCs in our club are named things like Edge, Rage, Jock, Blue, Blitz, and Mick.
. . . and do watch the herding tendencies. Hopefully the Lab will ameliorate that (on the other hand, my full blood Lab likes to herd other dogs and children, too. She's never had a chance to try sheep, but she was VERY interested when she saw some. Maybe it's all the hanging around with BCs at agility class . . .)
I ~think~ as of last night - she is settling on Cisco :~D
The one this week isn't really a good one, as far as general shoeing principles goes. It's about treating Laminitis, and I think the next few are going to be about that too. But it's still interesting.
G'Mornin'! How was Cisco's first night home? Did he get to sleep with you, or does he have his own bed yet?
Your dog sounds really cool, and he's cute too. You can't beat that! I think that's the kind of dog I want, whenever I finally decide to get one.
He's been dubbed Cisco...kinda sorta short for Francisco, his patron saint. ;-)
So far he's been pretty good with the cats. He's interested in them, but hasn't done any chasing or barking or anything. Hopefully he'll realize the futility of herding cats...
