This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
Yeah, Julia is suppose to be here around 1.
Not all that excited about it tho. I miss Harley:)
I am really ready to start RIDING!!!!
Becky
How much longer to wait?
And did the person that was interested in your Wintec buy it?
LOL Your trainer should have known not to talk about another females weight in front of her. Where were her manners? I'd let Sarah go leave a pile on her door step or something.
I used to keep S. American Cichlids. Oscars were my favorite. I had one live to be almost 10 yrs old. He got to be about 18" long and weighed about 2lbs. He was more like a dog than a fish. He liked to eat earthworms and crickets out of my hand. I could hold one up outside the glass and he'd about have a fit until I let him have it. Sometimes I made him jump for it, but when he got so big, the splash kinda made a mess. I kinda missed him when he died. One of these days I'm going to get another one, but not until after I get our house built. Moving big fish tanks is NOT fun!
At one time, I had about 4 big tanks up, but kinda let them go a little at a time after the oscar died. They were very time consuming keeping them clean. I've still got a 75 gallon running in the pool house at my in-law's, but it's got 2 fish in it, a Silver Dollar and some kind of weird black and white striped spiney catfish that I never see. Heck, he could be dead for all I know. He stays up under a piece of plant-covered driftwood all the time. There's so many plants in there that you can hardly see anything else. I've also got a little 10 gallon in our apartment with a couple of fish in it too, but it doesn't really require any maintenance. I just rinse the filter when it starts running slow and that seems to do the trick.
1 week from today is when I was told it would be ready. I have plans to go visit my Dad next Wed, so since I wouldn't be able to ride till Thurs, I'm giving them till then to call me. If they don't call on Thrus. I'll go back down there on Fri. and see if I can't speed them up.
sigh....long time:)

I haven't heard from her today. Yesterday I sent pictures of it, a list of all the things that go with it and the price.
Another lady wanted just the saddle. But I don't want to sell it that way. I think the whole package will be easier to get rid of then breaking it up. If she took the saddle what chance would I have of selling the irons, straps, girth, breastplate, extra gullet bars, pad.
Do you think $500 for the whole package is too much?
Becky
No the last of those died in January after they started the fish epidemic. Johnny got hooked on fish then got me into it. We have about 60 fish now. No wait, after yesterday we have closer to 80.
I'm surprised someone would want just the saddle if it's already put together. Most people would have to buy all that, most people don't keep their stirrups when they sell a saddle. The cinch might be the only thing that isn't the right size for someone else's horse.
If you've got the extra gullet bars, I'd make a point of saying which ones.
I don't remember what the saddle ran new, but it seems like the price is in the ball park, for the amount of wear you put on it.
My last Betta died, and now I have a tank of snails. I'd like to just empty it and be fishless for awhile but I haven't psyched myself up yet to murder all these snails :~D
SO CUTE! Thanks for sharing with us.
I did. I have the one it came with, which is either called med or reg or ave. then I have the x large one.
Becky
LOL! You sound like me! One of my fish was sick, but wouldn't die so I actually carried him to the vet for him to euthanize it. I know he thought I was crazy, and probably just whacked it's head off when I left.
ROFLOL,,,gasp,,,
That's great. I'd love to have been a fly on the wall when you left. I'll bet the office got a kick out of that:)
Becky
I can almost see it with the Oscars, since they're so big... but I don't think I'd return to a vet I took a sick Betta to :~D
Log onto ebay and do a search on Wintec saddles to see what others are selling for.
Yeah, I don't go to that vet any more. He retired and I moved. But hell, I had tried the "off with their heads" routine before and it didn't go well. The darned head layed there and opened and closed it's mouth at me for what seemed like forever, and I wasn't doing that again. I thought he'd have some formaldehide or something to put him in. I later learned that putting them in a bucket of water in the freezer is about the most painless way for them to go. Just call me CrazyFishLady! ;o)
Just got back from riding, Rocky made it about an hour. Poor guy. He is sooooo tender footed. I guess I'll never do that again. But it was nice to get out.
Becky
It's rather amazing that little metal shoes make that much difference.
They do help, but he gimps even in shoes. He's such a wuss:)
