IMO, Kellie comes off as a phony, where Carrie never did.
The only girl who doesn't drive me to drink is Mandisa.

You are right about Mandisa. I have liked her from the start. She can be a star.....
To: retrokitten
Mandisa won't win because American's not ready for a female Ruben.

I think the best were Mandisa, Kelly and Melissa. The rest were very boring and tie for removal. imo
To: silent_jonny
Being blond I guess I'm more partial to that. I just think she's sexier in a naive kind of way.

He went nuts pretty fast, didn't he?I lost interest in that character when he stepped outside of a supposedly highly secure facility, got beat up, lost his ID key card, and somehow was still able to get back into the building without having to explain where it was. Then he's the guy running the place and he doesn't do the normal thing of reporting the loss right away. Made zero sense.
I know you're supposed to suspend critical thinking when you watch these shows, but a wee dram of reality around the edges wouldn't hurt.

She might not win it all, but she's the best of the women.

Very easy. I'll be surprised if Ayla is eliminated though.

Gherkin drives me crazy too. Her "wide-eyed rube in the city" thing is grating. I hate it when women act stupid to get a laugh.(Of course she may not be acting)
To: TonyWpi
I agree with you. She may have a good voice but she doesn't have the look to go with it. To me she's like a thousand other good singers. You need more than that today. You need looks and personality.

I can't believe Simon just said that he prefers her to last years winner. There comes at least one moment (and sometimes several) every year since season 2 in which the previous year's winner gets dissed by the judges -- usually Simon. Why? Every year's winner is marketed as the best ever. They read the vote totals, so know they prevailing popularity trends.
Last year Simon said Carrie would outsell every former AI winner. This year, Kellie Pickler is better than Carrie. So does that mean the Gherkin will outsell all AI winners combined? Sheesh! So transparent.
