What does "WYSIWYG" mean? I've never seen that before.

What you see is what you get.

your predictions were spot on this week

Well, not quite :) I had 3 out of 4--Becky was booted instead of Brenna the beast. Maybe next week *crossing fingers*

So if Taylor wins, and if he proves that Blues is his niche, then he will have a Blues album.

bingo! It's about making money. Simon isn't stupid enough to try and make Taylor fit into a different niche. He said that he got more letters and mail in support of Talyor, than anyone else. I think Cowel was genuinely surprised by that and perhaps pleasantly so.

And speaking of Katherine ... she might be one of those ruthless types that Simon spoke of in his interview. Either that, or she just doesn't have any patience for people like Brenna who have no business being in the top 24.

Katharine has the look of a tough cookie about her.

See what Clive did to Bo as exhibit A. Dreadful.

The winners--and in Bo's case, the runner-ups--have a surprising amount of control over what kind of album they make with Clive.

"I identify with all of the songs on this album [Real Thing] -- and the title made sense to me because that's what we're setting up to prove: that I am legitimately the real thing," he says. "I play instruments, I write songs, I've been doing this for a while. I think it encompasses what we're going for."

"I'm grateful for 'Idol,' but so many of the first albums are taken as souvenirs," he adds. "I think that everything to do with my album -- the look of it, the feel, the songs-are about me. They didn't come in and go, 'Bo, change this, all of the kids are wearing mascara ...' F*** that. This is about the music. We got a rock'n'roll album, not a souvenir from a television show."

Bo Bice, 12-11-05 Billboard.com

I don't own his album, but whether it's good or bad, Bo deserves most of the credit, not Clive Davis.

Just checked the TV schedule. Next week's performance shows (Tuesday & Wednesday) will be 90 minutes each.

The DVR boxes that my cable TV company has now are great. I just set it up to record AI (or any show) anytime it's aired. Then I watch the show at my leisure, and get to skip past all the commercials and filler.

Speaking of filler, that group performance was horrible. I listened to a little bit of it, then fast-fowarded past it. Blech!

They didn't do any themes last year. The contestants pretty much picked their own songs. Some were felled by their own swords last year. jmo

Absolutely right, Net. Great reminder.

I think so too. He's certainly changed his attitude toward him sense the audition. IIRC, back then Simon actually said "no" to Hicks. Unbelievable.

Hi, Wolfstar :)

Katharine has the look of a tough cookie about her.

Yep. And, speaking for myself, I find that refreshing. I don't think she's a primadonna or a diva or anything. She just wants to do the best she can. She's my favorite of the females.

You have good taste. As I said the other day after listening to all the performance back-to-back in a marathon session, Katharine has the best voice by far in this competition. I do think her performance skills need work, but that's probably true of most of them at this stage.

LOL! Don Henley's head must've exploded when he heard that :)

Yeah, LOL! I've been listening to some Michael Bolton and Rod Stewart trying to find some songs I hope the rocker dude does. Chris is very good at what he does. I just wish he was better looking, but then I guess rock is not about looks. I mean, could there be a more strange looking straight guy out there than Rod Stewart?

Me too--and Chris Daughtry. Who knew that guy could nearly out-sing Bon Jovi? :)

Interesting comparison. Stewart doesn't exactly have the best voice. Don't get me wrong, I like Stewart. I just mean that you don't HAVE to have a perfect voice to sell records. That's something AI should keep in mind.

Thanks. Like this...there's a line from an old Tracy-Hepburn film in which Tracy watches her bottom as she walks away. He says not much there, but what's there is choice.

The race is in Fontana, CA, this weekend. Jeff will have a special black Hot Wheels paint scheme on his car, and he's wearing a very sexy black fire suit. Yum.
