for Tammy
Howdy...
I'm watching this on tape tonight. I had band rehearsal earlier.
So far I'm up to "Sway" and he needs to Sway Away!
Chris is up next...from what I've read, I'm looking forward to his song.
McPhee was the best of all so far.
But that hillbilly who did Skynyrd was good, and honorable mentions go to Elliot, Ace and Taylor Hicks.
Hicks should try some Sam Cooke or Van Morrison. He'd slay them all.
Chris was the best of the night :)
Holy crap!
This guy Chris is great! He's the best so far...
You guys nailed it!
He actually sings better than Bon Jovi himself!
I think Hicks IS Sam Cooke AND Van Morrison.
He needs to do Sam and Dave -- although his style is a little deeper.
But whoever made the "invisible chair" reference earler -- that was funnier than all getout! :)
Before I go back and read tonight's posts, I'll just say who I think will leave tomorrow night:
The B's--Becky, Brenna, Bobby, and Bucky.
My favorites tonight were Gedeon (I like his smile!); Taylor, who is consistently good; and Ace, who has charm as well as good vocal quality.
Bobby reminded me of the hosts you see on Univision, who come out and sing, surrounded by tall beautiful girls in skimpy costumes. Maybe he'll get a job there.
Patrick was very disappointing. His whole song fell flat.
David is a mimic, not an original. Who was he tonight--Elvis? Terrible!
Sway hurt my ears with that falsetto. It's a wonder he's not an axe murderer, if that's the way his parents sang to him every night when he was a baby.
Elliot has a nice voice, but zero stage presence.
Kevin will do well singing in Church. I bet he can really belt out the Ave Maria.
Poor Bucky--he is like a fish out of water. He'd best go back to the country/western bars where the noise of the crowd can drown him out. Or maybe to Dollywood.
Now to go back and see what all of you think about tonight's performances...
Bucky....he did Skynyrd pretty good. I still like Chris so far and I'm looking forward to seeing Hicks tonight...
Chicken Little is up next...he's pretty good too.
Chris has established himself as the guy to beat.
Hicks was extremely good, but he will have to take it up a notch to beat Chris.
How can you leave out Chris?
That was a solid "Dead or Alive" -- and the right combination of rasp and power.
Chicken Little...Kevin...he's got a great voice.
He's like Clay Akin early on on Season 2...
Hehe -- that is my secret to Kareoke. I can't sing, really. But I can imitate singers almost dead-on.
I got pretty good pitch from playing brass for many years (including French horn, which I got to the point I could play without using the valves).
But if someone was to ask me to just "sing" a song, I couldn't do it.
LOL--he really does!
You were a little rough on Bucky. I think he'll survive this week, but maybe not make the top 12. The Elvis kid is on much thinner ice.
Sadly, I missed the 1st 4 singers. On the summary, Kevin sounded good, but a little soft. But it isn't fair for me to evaluate them based on 10 seconds.
Living at a hotel reqires adapting to prehistoric conditions -- no TIVO :(
This Gideon....he's the guy that Simon said he wished he'd have heard his comments BEFORE he picked him...
He's doing "Shout" and it's like some drunk in a Karaoke bar.....
He reminds me of Eddie Murphy doing Velvet Jones, the dirty book author.
I couldn't get thru for #12 Taylor Hicks. He has a lot of personality and I liked his comment "This song reflects family values", words to that effect.
Actually, I heard Chicken Little. I thought you were talking about the one that looks like Kevin Arnold ;)
He (Chicken Little) was off-key for most of his performance.
If he can get pitch control, he'll be pretty good someday.
Ha! "I knew then that the three dollars I had spent on wine would not go to waste." :)
I'll repeat my comment when I was watching: Gideon has all the soul of Seals and Crofts. This version of "Shout!" should have been called "Mildly raise your voice."
