ROTFL. We sit there, listen to her comments, and then decide "Paula likes it", "Paula doesn't like it", or "Paula's biological clock is ticking".

I just assume that she and Randy must have a thing going...it's the only way to shut each other up.

That being said, and add the fact that she can't sing as well as any of them, I thoroughly enjoy Paula being there. She's over the top, yeah, but she does want those contestants to excel.

Stevie Nicks is really the only one I could see doing as well or better as the female judge. (mentioned it before)

Thanks for the info about Fantasia. Everyone and their brother is looking for ways to cash in on Idol's popularity. Lifetime found a way to do it and also do one of the Left's favorite things: celebrate the totally disfunctional urban black lifestyle they helped create. Blacks have the hightest rates of unwed motherhood, abortions, grandmas raising their grandkids, high school dropouts, and all of the other pathologies associated with the urban "poor."

I should add all of the pathologies so "charmingly" celebrated by rap/hip-hop thugs, and by modern R&B performers like Fantasia -- and funded/promoted by mostly white limousine Leftist powers in the entertainment industry.

If Fantasia had really wanted to be inspiring, she would have put out one or more songs warning young girls to avoid the mistakes she made. Instead she puts out 'Baby Mama'. She's disgusting.

If the rumors are true about Paula, and if they're looking for a "serious" replacement, what about Gladys Knight? I thought she did a wonderful job when she guest hosted in season 2 (she's the one who dubbed Ruben the "Velvet Teddy Bear). She's one of the few guest judges who actually took the job seriously and offered real critiques. Plus, she's had experience judging singing competitions with the short-lived "Idol Kids."

Just a thought.

“American Idol” chat rooms are buzzing over a controversy surrounding Chris Daughtry’s version of “I Walk the Line.”

Judges praised Daughtry for making the song his own when he sang it on the last episode. But some fans say the version was not his own, but ripped off from a version done by the band Live in 2001.

One fan posted a message saying “I just want to punch him in his bald head.”

Another message reads “This guy is a rip off. Judges are plain dumb.”

And a third message reads “Live singer Ed Kowalczyk called and said that he would like his vocal style” back.

Did you ever think one thing and type the other??? Well, duhhhhh.....this is what happened here. I meant to type: I JUST ASSUME SHE (ie: PAULA) AND SIMON MUST HAVE A THING GOING.

I can find just as many comments (actually a ton more) from people who liked it and who do not feel this way.

This was not Chris' fault, it was what the Simon said to Chris, the blame should fall on Simon. I don't even think Chris got the chance to respond to Simon before they cut away to a commercial. I will have replay it on my TIVO, but it doesn't really matter to the truly committed fans that Chris has.

The negative stuff on the boards across the Internet is coming from people who don't like a certain contestants (it happens here, I even do it...) and OF COURSE the Media is going to play off of the negative comments.

Chris at the beginning of interview: I am doing “I walk the line” by Johnny Cash. It was written in 1955 and I think it was a very edgy song for its time.

Barry: Which song are you doing?

Chris: I walk the line by Johnny Cash.

Barry: Like I keep my eyes wide,

Chris: very different version, a very different version

Barry: Well good, let’s…, lets do it.

Chris: The lyrics have a lot of relevance to me, um because he wrote it for his wife at the time on how he was going to stay true to her even though he was touring the world.

Barry: Chris knocked me out. Um that was um a, I mean I know ‘I walk the line ‘ just the way everybody else knows Johnny Cash’s version of “I walk the line”. I ‘v never heard this rendition of it.

Barry: Instead of the typical rock n roll half time, I was hearing that.

Chris: Working with Barry was awesome. He just seemed like a really genuine guy and was really wanting to help us make sure that we arranged these songs the best we could, to make them current and bring the best out of a song that we probably normally wouldn’t do.

Simon: I agree with Randy, I don't think it was the best vocal we have heard from you so far, but I don't think it matters because there is an enormous difference between what you just did then which was to take a great song, make it your own version, it was completely the opposite to what I hated about Buckys’ version of O'Boy. And actually, I've got to tell ya you are the first artist that we've ever had on this show who's actually refused to compromise. And for that Bravo.

WERE DID CHRIS HAVE THE CHANCE TO RESPOND TO SIMON'S COMMENTS? (Chris only responded to Randy's first question)

Chris could have mentioned it was Live's version when talking to Barry about doing it. Then everyone would have known, including the judges. But, he didn't. Or, if he did, it was cut out. Which is a bad thing to cut, if they did.

It did not become an issue until Simon opened his mouth. Gee do you think Chris was expecting Simon to say what he did? He probably figured Simon knew about "Live's" version of the song. I mean this is Simon's production. Maybe Ryan should have kept his mouth shut to give Chris a chance to say something back to Simon before cutting away to a commercial.

I think even Barry knew about it as Chris probably told him. What did Barry say... I mean I know ‘I walk the line ‘ just the way everybody else knows Johnny Cash’s version of “I walk the line”. I‘ve never heard this rendition of it. The wording sounds like they cut a lot away from when Chris was with Barry. You know they had to spend more than few minutes together.

Chris should not be taking the heat over this.

There are so many possibilities here if people want to twist it around.

Maybe Simon said what he did on purpose?
Maybe he does not like Chris?
Maybe Simon "really" didn't like the idea that Chris was not willing to compromise and sing it like the original?

Simon is known to say unfair as well as overly positive things at times, he tries to influence voters to some degree with his comments.
I wouldn't put it past Simon to use a little reverse psychology on people. Simon may have set the bait and some folks are biting at it and trying to make Chris look bad.

Like I said before... if what Chris did is to be considered a rip-off of a Cash song that Live did a few years ago, then Live is a rip-off, and then every contestant on AI is ripping off the original singers of the songs.

All in all... Chris does not deserve the bad rap he is getting. Most of it is coming from people who don't like Chris' style and the media is playing off of it.
But this is not the first time something like this has happened.

Most reasonable people can see what happened here.

The more I think about it the more I think about how it will not really hurt Chris at all with his voters. I think Chris is level headed enough to brush this off and that he will be even stronger on the stage next week.

Chances are this misunderstanding will be brought up next week by Simon, Ryan, or Chris. (only by Chris if... he gets enough time in front of the cameras.)

Chris is ahead in this contest because the guy can sing. If he wins it is because he appeals to a much larger audience than the other contestants did.

Sounds like Barry hadn't heard Live's version of it. Either Chris didn't mention that it was Live's version, OR he did but it got cut out AND which would just add to AI's pimping for Chris, trying to make him look 'brilliant' jmo

She was spotted at a recent West Hollywood function with actor Tony Schiena.

American Idol judge Paula Abdul has bounced back on the dating scene a month after tearfully admitting to Dr. Phil McGraw on a TV special that she has trouble finding true love.

The singer was spotted at a West Hollywood boutique opening on Tuesday night hand-in-hand with handsome actor Tony Schiena.

The pair pulled up in a Jaguar and slipped inside for the opening of Australian designer Leona Edmiston's store, where they sipped pomegranate martinis and held hands.

According to sources at the party, at one point the actor stood behind the petite star and wrapped his arm around her.

Schiena, who is from South Africa, was a black belt world karate champ before turning to acting. He has appeared in CSI:NY and also had a small role in 2004's 'The Merchant of Venice.'

Abdul's representative says the two are "just friends," while Schiena's representative says her client's "friendship" with Abdul started a year ago, when they met socially.
