Can you tell me the scoop about the producers and Haysbert. Thanks.
I like it and snagged it...LOL
I wonder who the goons are? No one knew he was on the road except ...the secret service agent (he's clean- at least for now) and whoever gave the OK for him to get through the barricades. The guard had no idea who was in command...Hmmm.....
The Vice-President.
I just hope they don't make Aaron a bad guy or have him killed. Then I really will have to stop watching the show.!
Well actually I just wouldn't admit it. That would show them! :)
Rats. I liked Palmer about as much as Jack.
I posted this on another thread a couple weeks ago after seeing one of Haysbert's interviews:
thanks for the reminder on President Palmers new show tonight. :)You're welcome :) And that reminds me--this morning I caught an interview with Dennis Haysbert on the CBS Early Show. It mainly focused on The Unit, but they did talk about 24 and what he said really surprised me. So did his attitude.
Last year, before this season of 24 began filming, the producers contacted Haysbert and told him the plot and how David Palmer would be assassinated.
He was upset. "Why would they want to kill a president who is more popular than the one we really have", meaning President Bush, and he pointed to the bogus CBS poll as proof!
Haysbert then went on about how Palmer was "the first black president", beloved by the fans, etc. and they were just going to kill him off? He told the 24 producers they could kill Palmer off but he wouldn't film that scene. The producers said, "Okay, we'll just use a fake CNN report."
Haysbert laughed when he repeated this in the interview, as if they couldn't possibly film something like that without him.
IMO, he was very smug about this and my opinion of him dropped a few points. (We know eventually he did film the assassination scene so I guess the producers must've paid him enough to make it worth his while. So much for his moral objections.)
He then went on to talk--with great reverence--about his upcoming role as Nelson Mandela. Gag.
The interview left a bad aftertaste :-/

Nelson Mandela??? Aack. Didn't catch that in the post before. Oh well. Guess I won't be buying any Allstate.
Well goodnight. See ya'll tomorrow on AI.
Well, that's one way to stand out!
I'm curious . . . does anyone else watch it with the sound turned down to decrease the TENSION!?
Or deliberately watch it while watching other shows to decrease the tension?
Yeah, I know. I'm a wuss about that.
It's too easy for me to get emotionally immersed even in fiction.
Yes .. you will

Ahhhhh.
That would be a reason, alright!
LOL.
Thanks all.
What a shame. I have seen him in a couple things and he was impressive...but his snotty attitude will not win him many fans..except maybe the Hollywood limo liberal club who loves songs about pimps and men who use women aka Slick Clinton.
re decreasing: yep, I used to just sit and watch the show and become totally immersed .. found it was TOO tense for me, so started to watch while at my workdesk and semi-occupy my mine with work, while watching, and tension levels are way down, but I still thoroughly enjoy the show.
You aren't the only one. I have been on her case since last season. Only on 24 can you trust the double-dealing mercenary terrorist-helping IIB babe to be absolutely truthful about something like this.
Yes if my four pound dog insists on being in the same room I have to play it low or the dog goes under the couch fearing Jack will shoot it in the knee.
It's sure well structured to keep one interested--and WOUND UP! Sheesh!
Clever twists and turns.
One irritating thing when happening onto it . . . one can watch 2-3 hours and then think toward the end of the last or the next hour that--oh, they are about to conclude it . . .
WRONG!
They can drag stuff out further than any show I've ever seen. Of course with great interest and excitement.
But tuning in every 2-3 commercials from other programs often works for me.
LOL.
What a laugh.
Gretchen, you might like this site too
It really is. I've always liked Haysbert as an actor--I never suspected he had this kind of attitude in real life.
