Mohave is in the high desert of Southern California -- on the road out of the valley toward Mammoth..... Edwards AFBase, etc.., also one of the cuts across from Barstow to Bakersfield cuts through Mohave...
The Globes will get the Desperate Housewives audience from last night.

One would think that an organization as importatn as CTU would at least do a simple background check on employees. Speaking of employees, wouldn't you expect the most important anti-terrorist organization to have more than a dozen employees and more than 2-3 people on computers? This musy be the most productive work force in America.
And yet the republican president kept on board a staff member from Palmer's administration. They definitely are playing to a non-partisan image of the Presidency (which actually is kind of nice for this show).
I stopped watching during season 3, so I missed this presidential election.
How about Howie Long, the football talker, condemning the Bush skit?
You are looking at it wrong. Jack didn't need to be alive for their plan to work. They already have the doctored footage to plant in the surveillance camera. They kill Tony, Michelle, and Chloe, then kill Palmer and plant the footage. All of a sudden, CTU is searching for a guy they think is dead. Even if Jack really were dead, CTU would be searching high and low for him. It's just a plus that Bauer is alive.

It took the mother more than an hour to meet up with Jack and the kid. She met up with him at the Ontario airport at about 8:40am. The opening identified the oilfield as being near Mojave, California which is 80 - 100 miles from LA.
The real timing issue on the premier was the time from Palmer's assassination to the TV reports. He was shot about 7:05 am, but the TV news had it within 10 minutes. If he had been killed in a public place, perhaps, but he was killed in his brother's apartment.
The media would only know that something bad had happened in the brother's apartment, not that the former president had been shot and killed. News would have leaked out quickly, but the news cycle would go from reporting that something had happened in the home of the former president's brother to unconfirmed reports that the former president had been injured and finally after some time that the former president had been killed.
The current President and CTU would have known immediately, but the outside world would have been in the dark for at least an hour.
Additionally, how would CTU know about the attack on Tony and Michelle so quickly?
I love the show, but sometimes I need a crane to suspend my disbelief.
The other computer tech jobs were outsourced to India.......its Bush's fault! LOL!
I understand where you are coming from but to be honest with you, things happen so fast and furious that while viewing it you really don't give a thought to the time frame. Thats why I need a DVR for this program.

BTW, since the producers survived season 4's move to a more reality-based plot (where the terrorists were (gasp!)Muslims) I think this year the bad guys are Chechens.

But how did they know the four that knew jack was still alive? Also they killed palmer and michelle and would have gotten tony if they had left together But they send goons to capture chloe?
I think Chloe's car was going to blow up and the goons were there to make sure it happened. When she walked away they got out of the van.
Also I understand she has HUGE tracts of land.
I have two hypotheses for why this happens.
