AMERICA - The Right Way!! (Day 1790) [Remember the Trade Center!!]
Various News Sources and FReepers | December 15, 2005 | All of Us

Posted on 12/15/2005 6:37:54 PM PST by Chairman_December_19th_Society

We will not tire, we will not falter, and we will not fail!

Good evening!!

Do not let the victims of the attacks on New York and Washington, nor the brave members of our Nation's military who have given their lives to protect our freedom, die in vain!!

There was strong voter turnout across Iraq in the Parliamentary elections there.

450,000 are without power in the south after an ice storm has moved through North Carolina, Virginia (fine where I am), and West Virginia.

And despite state law to the contrary, transit workers in New York city are preparing to go on strike tonight at midnight.

For AMERICA - The Right Way, I remain yours in the Cause, the Chairman.

BUMPTIOUS...def.: Offensively self-assertive; pushy; self-important.
What names come to mind?

Freeper? Or Otherwise?

Otherwise:
Bill O'Reilly
Cindy Shehan
Charlie Rangel
The list is endless and I've got work to do today.
This topic probably deserves it's own thread.

The first names that came to my mind were The Possum and McCain though my full list would be extensive and would include virtually all of the tv 'pundits' as well as just about every 'rat I can think of except Zell Miller and, occasionally, Lieberman.

The problem here on the insurance problem is that thousands were told, including me, that flood insurance was not needed where a lot of us lived. We took them at their word, did not buy the flood insurance and my home I sold in town was not damaged in any way but from my next door neighbor to the beach is GONE, no more, piles of lumber, etc. A lot of them were told they did not need flood insurance and look where they are now. To me this makes the insurance companies liable.

Though we usually agree on most things, I must respectfully disagree with both of you on the flood insurance issue. Those who live in hurricane-prone areas (and I grew up and lived in such areas until about 10 years ago) know that flood insurance must be purchased separately. The only water damage that a regular homeowner's policy covers is from water falling from the sky (e.g., a tree falls on your house causing roof damage and rain comes in the house from that) or from an internal source such as a hot water heater bursting.

If those whose homes were damaged/destroyed by storm surge are allowed to collect on their regular homeowner's policies, then all the people who have paid extra for flood insurance for years/decades should get refunds because they have been cheated all the time they have paid for flood insurance.

We have personally never lived in a flood-susceptible area but have always known that we must have a separate flood policy if we want coverage from rising water ... and a storm surge is rising water (rapidly rising, to be sure, but nevertheless that's what it is).

My brother has a very nice home on the Intracoastal Waterway (his deck is 3,000 sq. ft.!). He has actually watched the storm surge approach (but never reach) his house during hurricanes. He has had flood insurance since the day he started building the house and paid a tidy little sum for it. Why should he have paid all that extra money if he could have just waited and then sued the insurance company if his house were destroyed by storm surge?

I have the utmost sympathy for those whose homes were destroyed in the hurricanes this summer. I know people who lost homes from hurricane flooding during Floyd and they were far inland. Most of them also had flood insurance because there was a river several miles away. I walked through a yard that had dead fish in it and the river was over a mile away and had never flooded to that extent. I've seen ... and smelled ... the results of such flooding in person and my heart breaks for those who have suffered losses.

But an insurance policy is a contract and both sides should be bound by that contract ... and it's NOT fine print at the bottom that addresses the issue but it's stated clearly and understandably, even to laypeople, that flooding is not covered.

I understand where you are coming from on this and I respect your views but must agree to disagree with you.

Sorry I can't stay around to debate the matter ... must get to the office now. But I thought that both sides should be presented in the interest of fairness to others reading the thread.

***HUGS***

That is so terrible, but I've heard a lot of stories about State Farm Insurance, very few of them good.

Mornin' All. Cooool in central Texas today. In fact we have cloud cover. Roomey and I will be going to Waco today, he on business and me....I'll be helping the economy, one must do their civic duty.

IG, your grandson ...

It gets Better/Worse (select one)

Little grandson had a talk with his Daddy this morning at breakfast. It was about the Angels: Are they going to have to be good forever?

And about the Shepards: What time are they going to the farm (Granny's House) to do the Sheep Chores and would it be okay if he goes along since somebody will have to drive them 'cause they aren't old enough to drive?

This poor child. I laugh and then I cry. He is so innocent and takes everything so literally.

I guess he needs to spend his Christmas Vacation with Granny who is probably the only one able to administer the shock treatment necessary to install an acceptable amount of cynicism.

Our congress, hard hearted Hanna's, will the send a letter to the radicals and ask for forgiveness? Will they invite them in to the states?

Strange, nothing is important as their political career, to hell with all of us. It is now 'ask not what I can I do for my Country but what can I do for my party'. They are selling us into some serious happenings and soon too.

I am finished with the house/babysitting. The 10 year old woke up barfing on Wed. 102 fever.... Flashbacks for me. She's fine now. 6 year old broke his glasses. 18 year old helped me rebuild them. Sheesh.

5 kids are a blessing. For anyone else. ;>)

I am offically reverting back to my grumpy old man persona.

It was sorta fun, but I value my quiet space.
