Glad you're back, Granny. Any plans for resting up?

((((Dolly)))) I've been where you are now and know the pain of losing a beloved pet.

Molly, thanks so much for those links.

Everyone: Don't forget that President Bush will be giving a major speech this morning....10 o'clock or thereabouts. Does anyone know the exact time?

Thanks for the reminder, Carolina. C-SPANII will broadcast the speech at about 11:15, but I'm not sure this is the exact time...

I went to the World Affairs Council of Phila. site which is hosting the event. They don't give the exact time, but other indicators point to the 11-11:15 slot..

Well, my cat and I just finished watching the Beazley/Barney WH video. My fave part: Steve Scully on CSPAN deadpanning "Supporters of Miss Beasley may call...all others, call..."

Last night HGTV carried the White House Christmas annual show....behind the scenes decorating with the florists, crew, etc. The theme theme this year is "All Things Bright and Beautiful" and it's carried out with all natural decorations...

hence the lemons and limes, and so forth you see in the video. The trees have many fresh flowers with their own little water vases, and even with this, the flowers will have to be changed weekly thru the season. EGADS!!

Jamie Wyeth was interviewed....I kept thinking he probably hates the President, but he was gracious about the honor of being chosen to paint the scene for the card and guide book..

many thanks, Molly, for that link. I saw the WH Christmas decorations show.....gorgeous fresh flowers, which will be changed weekly!

The Christmas Barney and Beasley video was darling....Have you noticed that THIS administration is filled w/creativity...and humor? Steve Scully's perfectly straight-faced instructions to callers was a hoot!

IG the ad is just great and it shows dean, pelosi and skerry speaking their own words. The expressions while making said statements. It is great. That's why the demos have their panties in a twist. The GOP has the nerve to use our own words against us.....my, my.

When it started to snow early in the school day here, administrators did not release the students until after lunch had been served....you see, being at school for a half day counted as a full day of the 180 calendar days required.

Teachers were expected to stay an hour after the students left to be sure that all students had left. Once, however, the snow was so deep outside after lunch was served and the students released that after checking that all students were out of the building, I told the principal that even though the required hour was not up, I had to get home safely TOO.

The accumulated snow was already 8-9 inches deep on my car's windshield. That day it took me almost an hour of slipping and sliding to make a normal 10 minute drive to my house.

Hi, I am home. I get a day off from babysitting today, so I am working on the tree in the family room. I need to get it done because tomorrow the carpet cleaners will be herre (not cleaning the family room) but I don't want all the boxes and stuff to get in the way.

Presidient's speech was pretty good (I heard the last third and the Q and A). Murtha was just on Fox and sounded senile. Off to do some chores...will check in later.

I WALKED to school (5 blocks) in the morning, WALKED home at lunch, WALKED back to school, then WALKED home. All that walking, bike riding, and skating meant there was no need to go to a gym for exercise. ;-)

So, the games continue.

Three buttons on her remote with huge printed labels taped by each button... and yet she pretends to not know how to turn the tv on or change the channel and yet....when she was havening lunch I put her telephone, remote, klennex box, and shoes in her chair. Funny how she put them all back in their proper places...lickedly-split.

Oh, you two have brought back fond memories of walking to school.

My brother and I would leave early so we could play games on the way to school.

One of our favorite games was marbles....steelies...especially in the early spring when the snow banks were just melting.

On the way to and from school there was a hill. As the banks melted....the water would run down the hill...leaving a crusted overhang of ice all the way down the hill....

Each of us (friends, too) would throw a marble down the hill toward the overhang. The marble would follow the line of the stream of water..all the way down the hill. We never saw the marbles until they reached the bottom because they were underneath the overhang.

My brother and I won lots of marbles because we knew the flow. ;-)

We never played the traditional marbles in a circle. Our playing field involved miles.
