I just thought that perhaps a little extra heat in that area might be er...more exciting. As it were.

Tungsten makes an excellent "chime". It's very dense and very tough stuff to work with. Put the right temper on it and it should "chime" every time it dings into the outer casing. Making them a split-bell shape for improved ring quality shouldn't be a problem.

Well...since they are Element 79, I would settle for a small heater...laquer isn't necessarily necessary. I mean, the E-79 surface is very smooth, indeed, and I think it can be polished to a very high gloss by er...manipulation...

Pure, unalloyed Element 79 will be too soft to handle much use. Malleability is not what we need for this particular item; firmness, is! The surface must also remain perfectly smooth. The playgrounds we envision do not react well to nicks and scrapes.

Well, if NnB and DC make ones that can have interchangeable innards, we can have a heated insert and a chilled insert, for more variety.

You don't think we would have thought of that? Also, dead soft aurum doesn't have any "ring" to it. It's a lot like lead in that regard. However, you CAN temper it with nickel, chromium, and platinum to harden it up to make some rather nice items.

If all else fails, we'll just put a couple nanometers worth of this carbon crystal coating on it. Smooth and very scratch resistant.
