Hmmmm. Interesting point.
*Thinking*
I'd rather take the discomfort, if it means I get to unstrap myself after a few minutes, and see what's going on.
If I were in the tub, I'd have to dry off, and get changed.....

"Make sure Calvin and Hobbes understand why their inner clocks are off ..." Once they get over the rumbling and squashing effects of takeoff, I think they'll love outer space!
Our planned rotational gee load will be a third of a gravity. They will feel like kittens again!
I would not be surprised to see a healthy cat be able to leap twenty feet straight up, (in Martian gravity!)
We will all feel better. The most extreme maneuvering thrust will only accelerate us to two/thirds of a gee. We will hardly notice such things.
It's difficult to say where the best view will be. Even finding a comfortable spot out on the meadow should be spectacular, as the sky overhead turns black, and Earth rotates into view every few minutes!

I'm not suspecting that we'll need a lot of cats.
But I'm sure they'll find things to keep themselves occupied -- like sleeping.

A person who weighs a hundred and eighty pounds on Earth, will feel only sixty pounds pressure pushing down on their feet once we get into space.
Why, I might take the stairs two at a time!

I used to do that at school a few million years ago.
It's almost like flying!

I certainly hope it's not the "10,000" that Bob keeps talking about. I didn't think that many FReepers knew about the impending trip, but then, I guess there are a lot of hangers-on.
I'm happy if only a few thousand of us are here. "The more the merrier" does not necessarily extend into space.

"How long are we gone for, and how many of us are going? " A standard orbital transfer to Mars takes eight months. Of course, we never do anything in the ordinary way! In addition to our interplanetary travel time, we will want some time to land on Mars, explore Olympus Mons and Valle Marinaris, and also take a close look at some asteroids.
I'm guessing we won't return to Earth, if we return at all, until after a year and a half in space.
Our three habitats, the Flying Castle, the "Are We There Yet?" and the "He's Touching Me!" can support over ten thousand people, and a host of small and large animals. We will have enough to keep us occupied, as well as fed and breathed, for a virtually unlimited length of time.
We just may decide to go on and visit the outer moons -- those of Jupiter, Saturn, Neptune, and Uranus. By the way, Uranian surface gravity is equivalent to Earth! We could endow a colony there! (Now, that would be cool!)
(By the way, a "tourist's eye view" description of the Flying Castle parked in the asteroids is available on my home page, listed as "Chapter Seventeen." -- Just Mouse-click on my name, below.)

That was BOB'S estimate. Im happy if just a few hundred close FRiends come...and you, of course, Sis...I mean, what would space be without a buddy for the "buddy System?"

Er...Not small as in "SMALL," but more like small, as in your normal smallness. However, small could be rather LARGE, if it weren't for the place it has to be in, which is, in itself, kinda small, if you know what I mean. But on a large scale.
