Hello!
Not much going on at the moment.
Hi freedumb! Long time no see. I'm doing okay. How about you?
Somehow or another, I am hanging in there.
In Texas and we have a freeze warning for tomorrow. It was 80+ a few days ago.
I am headed down south for a very badly needed and deserved vacation next week.
Still in school and working thourgh classes, exams, etc?
a note in passing on the way to slumberland.
I shall have triumphal dreams: I just fired the first arrow from this Yumi.
There is plenty of final shaping remaining.
I must still install the bindings.
I have yet to apply the surface sealant.
I don't have a proper bowstring.
Nevertheless... I just finished up rouging out the nocks, and I couldn't resist temptation...
I took some cheap nylon string
I fought like hell (having only one good arm didn't help, but stringing this monster will be a bitch even with two) to string it
I took it outside
I nocked an arrow
I drew it as best I could
I loosed
...
...
...
holy $#!+
TRIUMPHAL dreams, I tell you.
Ya-HAR!
A job well done!
Congrats, KP!
Buenos Noches amigo
No classes right now, but I'm still in school. I'm teaching and working on my dissertation proposal.
I shot an arrow into the air,
It fell to earth, I knew not where;
For, so swiftly it flew, the sight
Could not follow it in its flight.
I breathed a song into the air,
It fell to earth, I knew not where;
For who has sight so keen and strong,
That it can follow the flight of song?
Long, long afterward, in an oak
I found the arrow, still unbroke;
And the song, from beginning to end,
I found again in the heart of a friend.
What's the subject?
btw: a few years ago (OK, many years ago), a study was done and it was found that dissertation titles with colons in them do better. Something like:
Free Republic: A study in Controlled Chaos
Gotta have that colon! :)
LOL! Okay, I'll remember to have a colon in the title. My area is tax. However, the exact topic keeps evolving as I try to refine it and narrow it down. So I won't really be able to say exactly until after I defend the proposal.
Hi Es. I'm still here. :-)
hard to tell at the moment, but I think this bow's draw-weight well exceeds 80lbs
the arrow speed is... unholy, even from an incomplete draw using nylon (which stretches and eats some of the power)
great poem, an old fave
I shot the arrow into the ground - it is night and in town, after all :)
IF I *did* shoot it into the air, only God knows where it would come down... DAMN but this monster is bastard strong
I tried archery once in high school. I had a terrible time drawing the bow.
Well, sure. All that effort -- all that crap, and no colon? It just wouldn't be healthy.
(That's one way to remember it!)
My day was okay. Up and down... LOL!
