The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

I didn't realize you had a place you could go all year. Are the logging roads gravel?

Ok. I smacked one today that tried to bite me (not mine) and was just wondering if I should have slapped his shoulder instead.

yes - gravel and rip-rap... some more primitive than others...

They don't get too muddy... We've been there before... this place.

Some of the minor roads are real grassy... I'd imagine they get a little muddy in winter... this was in late May.

I don't think you can do that with beef. Something about guv-mint approval, I think.........

What about the land you looked at? How does it lay, is it fenced, water?

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1573373/posts Sad, but sounds like a wind problem and the "boys" were just having some fun. I expect there will now be a new warning label on all tractors:')

Good Morning.

Becky, that's great you have some seedlings up. With the bottom heat, they just germinate faster. So satisfying to see those little seeds grow up. I only plant a few tomatos and peppers now, so I don't bother starting seeds.

New warning label: Tractor Not Meant For Parasailing

Kind of like the warning label on blow dryers: Do Not Use While Sleeping

That's just it, I don't have heat under them. The tray is sitting on one of the benches of my dining room table. The directions are put them where they get light but not direct sunlight. On the bench they are sitting below the dining room window, so they get sunlight, but not direct. I planted them last Thru. evening, and they were up on Mon. There were more this morning too:)

My problem now is I have 3 different kinds of plants in this tray. The seedlings are all the same. The directions were when seedlings start to appear tip the clear plastic dome. When all the seedlings are up take it off. Should I tip it now? Or wait till there are seedlings from all the different kinds??? I never thought about his when i planted them. The trays are to big tho, to plant them all the same.

You can see the little seedlings on the left side up at the top.

I "finally" remembered to call the vet and get an appointment for Harley to have his teeth checked. Fri. afternoon.

Not that I'm having any problems now, but I'm going to have her check his shoes, and I want to ask her some questions about his back and saddle fit. I want to know if his back was out enough would that cause a saddle not to fit. Why one side of his withers/shoulder is larger then the other.

It's odd that nothing has been on the news about it in Waco. Our news stations here have to see it on CNN before they think it is worth reporting, otherwise it's bull crap stories. The biggest story here in the past week has been how students are accessing the internet at school.

Sounds like a good checkover of issues for spring... Let us know everything that's said!

I'll be having the vet out sometime this spring to check Bay over too... see if the current system we've got is working still or if it needs change.

I just dropped off the monsters to get tutored ;~D I'm also having a weird thing on Pippin looked at. He has a bony protrusion right at the end of his ribcage that moves around, sometimes flips so it's pointing straight out, sometimes back inside and you can't feel it. It doesn't seem to bother him when it moves around but it's really weird.

I saw the Budweiser Clydesdale commercials and really loved them too, especially the one with the colt. They do some really great ones but I don't think I saw the 9/11 ones. I can't watch streaming media here at work so I can't watch the replay of this one either. Darn those computer Nazis!
