This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
Me too!
The owner warned me that I may be the only adult at the lesson, but I told her it wasn't a problem for me.
Heh.... that'll be interesting!
I'm willing to bet that most of them will know more than I do!
I'm not picky - I'd learn from a knowledgeable kid any day. Chances are they'd be easier teachers.
Kids usually don't act like I'm stupid either and like to "teach"
I think Eddie has been in the Valley too long. He had to go see the judge today about a ticket. He and the judge bartered his fine from 165-85 dollars.
How fast was his horse going?
you're welcome.
We need to play a game or something LOL
Eddies?:') Don't know but he didn't have his seat belt on and his tags were expired and the horses title hadn't been changed yet.
For anyone who watches Extreme Makeover, the crew is in Boardman (local burg), rebuilding a home. It will be aired on November 20, 2005. Local TV & radio stations have been following along the progress. Pretty exciting huh?
I love that show. Let us know how it goes - sounds like a lot of fun.
My oldest grandson and I like to watch those shows. It always fascinates him (me too) seeing the before and after pics.
Mornin'!
I've watched that show on a few occasions.
All because of Ty Pennington, of course. *grin*
With all the bad news going on about Delphi, this is a welcome diversion. Delphi has a large plant, employing thousands, locally.
Hey, that's great you found another place to ride. I did check out their web site. Good luck, keep us posted, and have fun!
I missed that one. :-(
Let's see if I can get pictures this weekend of the new place. Hair will never forgive me if I don't.
Heh - Good morning!
We have a Delphi plant near me too. Several guys that I ride with occasionally work there and are very worried. They haven't closed it (yet), but apparently there's talk about their wages being cut from $27 an hr to $10 or $11 an hr and cuts to their benefits and such. It's really a shame. We've had so many plant closings and buyouts in this area already that it's getting hard to find a job that pays anything and has decent benefits.
No kidding, here I thought the South was doing rather well. What the heck, does the future hold for our grandkids?
How is the injuried one doing?
Good morning.
Several things to report on:)
I had a good ride on Harley yesterday with the new cushion. It worked fine, no soreness that I could detect.
So this morning I returned Debbies pad and saw Rusty and had a report. He is living the good life:). He has been rode all of 3 times since he was bought. She tried putting him in the pasture with some geldings but he got beat up on, so he is running with mares:). Beings as he will stay around the barn too, he gets t get out out and wonder free sometimes. Debbie said she can tell he is a trail horse because a ditch that runs across her property doesn't bother him at all, he walks right thru it. I guess her other horses have troubles with that.
I am also having trouble, again, with my hot wire not being hot. I just got done working on it and am waiting to see what Rocky does. This morning I turned him out of his run and watched to see what he would do. He ran straight to the back walked slowly to the wire and gently pressed against it, when it didn't shock him he just pressed till it broke and ran into Harleys run. Harley was not in it.
I'm not sure what the problem is, I've walked the fence line and made some adjustments, I have it hot now but am not sure if he will still bust it so I'm keeping an eye on him to see if it's hot enough to back him off. He hasn't gone to the back yet since I moved him back to his side.
Thank goodness he doesn't, but I don't know why he doesnt do this with the hot wire around his run.
Becky
