We've had so many plant closings and buyouts in this area.

No kidding, here I thought the South was doing rather well. What the heck, does the future hold for our grandkids?

How is the injuried one doing?

Good morning.

Several things to report on:)

I had a good ride on Harley yesterday with the new cushion. It worked fine, no soreness that I could detect.

So this morning I returned Debbies pad and saw Rusty and had a report. He is living the good life:). He has been rode all of 3 times since he was bought. She tried putting him in the pasture with some geldings but he got beat up on, so he is running with mares:). Beings as he will stay around the barn too, he gets t get out out and wonder free sometimes. Debbie said she can tell he is a trail horse because a ditch that runs across her property doesn't bother him at all, he walks right thru it. I guess her other horses have troubles with that.

I am also having trouble, again, with my hot wire not being hot. I just got done working on it and am waiting to see what Rocky does. This morning I turned him out of his run and watched to see what he would do. He ran straight to the back walked slowly to the wire and gently pressed against it, when it didn't shock him he just pressed till it broke and ran into Harleys run. Harley was not in it.

I'm not sure what the problem is, I've walked the fence line and made some adjustments, I have it hot now but am not sure if he will still bust it so I'm keeping an eye on him to see if it's hot enough to back him off. He hasn't gone to the back yet since I moved him back to his side.

Thank goodness he doesn't, but I don't know why he doesnt do this with the hot wire around his run.

LOL, well I think the wire is working. I just saw him run to the back again, but before I could get out there to see what he would do, he came running back around his side shaking his head:).

... I thought the South was doing rather well...

It depends on where you are. Our area was heavily industrial and union and is not doing as well as other nearby areas that are more tech-related and non-union. I think the Huntsville Metro area is one of the fastest growing areas in the country right now with the space and defense contracts and all the associated spin-offs. The Marshall Space Flight Center, Redstone Arsenal, a couple of Boeing facilities and a new Toyota engine assembly plant have really helped them alot. We used to have a Ford plant here but it closed back in the early 80's. The plant I work at used to be owned by Reynolds Aluminum but was sold back in '99 to a private investor group. There used to be 6 Reynolds plants right here, employing several thousand people but by the time of the sale there was only one left which now employs less than 1000. Reynolds as a whole was bought up by Alcoa and exists now only as a brand name. It's a sign of the times I guess.

Oh, the injured one is doing well, all things considered. It's been a couple of weeks now and it's filling in but it's still gonna be a long time before it heals up. I thought I'd probably post a pic once a month so we can compare the befores and afters.
