The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

I'd say don't treat it like a charity, or you're just stuck paying board on two horses.

There's lots of parents that will pay board and show entries and cute little sequined outfits and tack for a nice horse for the kid to show, who don't want to commit the thousands to buy him. They know next year the kid will be off to college, or want a different horse, and don't want to buy. You don't want to sell, so leasing benefits you both. And you know... if the right person leases him and falls in love you might want to sell later on.

While it's nice to just help out a kid that can't afford it, you can do that with SL... What would be good would be to lease Okie to someone who is more serious, and more competitive. It doesn't make sense for you to do that and still pay all the costs.

Hey. What do you know about the LaGrande area. I'm finding some nice property at reasonable cost? Want to go land shopping with me?

I didn't mean lease her, I meant that you could let a kid help you out with her and even ride if they are nice but can't afford to lease. (with some liability issues solved between you and the parents) Aren't some others riding her now sometimes? I thought there was a kid last summer that was working with her.

Lease Okie to someone serious so he's not so expensive for you to keep.

Hopefully, the problems will be in your favor. Feuding neighbors was the reason that the farm I am on was sold. This farm has a history of neighbor disputes. Some of the boundaries had double fences with three feet distant between them. So far we have gotten along well with the current neighbors.

Still not found the old house pics yet. My house was rearranged while I was away back in the fall.

I am awake because there is a storm squall line passing through. Have heavy rain and strong winds at the moment. Should pass through quickly though.

Yes, to a non-pilot that would sound good.........

If that parachute line got tangled in the flight controls of the airplane ... you would not have a parachute or control of the airplane. The solution is simple, when the engine quits, land the airplane like you were taught to do. If you do not have a smooth landing place, just pretend that you do. That is what the old timers did.

What adorable kittens... they always make my heart melt. And they've gotten big! When you first got them, they were just little furry lumps! :-)They're starting to get bodies now.
