The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

He's definitely too fat but the only feed he gets is about 2 cups of crimped oats, a cup of biotin supplement and his daily wormer, once a day. The pasture is gone from no rain but he does get free choice grass hay. He just needs some exercise but that's hard to do when he's always lame.

Well, In my experience, you don't often see appys with dark spots on color. Usually darker spots appear either within a white blanket, or inside peacock spots that have their own white border. A palomino with dark spots would be unusual.

I didn't know about the smutty gene until we started talking about it here either but since then I've noticed that just about every palomino I've seen since has it to some degree, but Harley's shoulder blotch is just about the most prominent one I've ever seen.

Well your right:). I think it was just because they were such nice round spots, and mostly on his hips, except for that blotch on his shoulder. Spots on hips just make you think App. But your right that dark spots are usually within a blanket.

The bus ride was fine going up there. I was patting myself on the back for being "smart". They lost my suitcase though so I didn't have my riding clothes or equipment until that evening. After everyone left me I got into it with the bus driver going back. He was short handed so I put my suitcase in myself. He came around and took it out and started talking down and reading me the riot act about how luggage has to be tagged. I should have kept my mouth shut but I diddn't like the way he was talking to me and made a comment about it didn't seem tags made a difference and an "I forgot, ok? That set him off."That was all you had to say" as I grabbed my bag and went inside. He came around the other side and pointed his finger at me and yelled to the clerk, "she , has an attitude" I'm figuring, he's kicking me off anyway so I took the offensive and yelled back and told him, I wasn't riding with him, and that him griping at me about luggage a joke because they couldn't keep up with my tagged suitcase and that yesterday I had to wear dirty clothes until they found it so don't lecture me about systems. He called the clerk in the backroom. The ticket agent came out again and asked me if I really wasn't getting on the bus. I told him no, I'll wait for the next one and showed him I was calling my sister. He told me" you have the best route, with no lay overs. The driver just understaffed and would I just get on the bus and sit in the back because I only had to ride with him to San Antonio. So, I took my tagged bag and gave it to the bus driver with the attitude and stuck my nose in the air and got on the bus. He got in with his nose in the air and off we went. We were going down 35. Traffic was packed. We were kissing close to 18 wheelers he was passing. At that time I got to thinking p/o the bus driver might not have been a good idea. At the next stop I told him I was sorry for having an "attitude" I figured I wasn't responsible for his bad attitude but I was mine. In San Antonio they switched. I'm thinking, good. Hell, I was on the bus with Rambo this time. He started lecturing peopl e about who he puts on the side of the road. I kept my mouth shut this time:')

Being smart vs strong. Getting things done with tech instead of strength.

That did sound funny:'). No, she has clinics. We were kind of trying out. She didn't seem too impressed with her raw material at first but I guess liked us. She told us we were both good riders and have a lot of potential and invited us back. I was expecting her critque of me to have been at lot worse.

I told you you had a good seat:). Now you just need to believe it:).

Can you take your own horses to these things, or do you have to use hers?
