The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

Hey now. 54 is artic. I got cold in the car this morning and had to turn the heater on. I felt silly until I saw people running in to work with coats and jackets.

Mine like to kill those but they will play with soccer balls. Go figure. Much to the owners dismay, Okie and friends also like to play with their feed buckets. After they are empty they think they ought to come down.

We're supposed to get lots of rain from Saturday till Tuesday. Saturday is supposed to be the worst, and it would figure that that would be the day that I get to ride. Blast.

It's in the 50's here. My windows are open. The ac is still running and I'm covered up. Cindy, it's not all that comfortable in my living room.

Good Morning.

So much for my sleeping in this morning. My Granddaughter woke me up at 7:30, on this cold, rainy day. Cartoons are on, and she has a bowl of cereal. It's back to bed for me for a bit.

Thanks for the help in posting pics.

Here is the only pic I have on this computer. The horse is not mine. It is of me riding when I was in Mexico a few weeks back.

I went down there on business and got to ride nearly every day.

My Spanish was greatly expanded. Before going, I knew, "mas cervesas" and "mas tequila."

And now I know "mas caballos."

Good morning!

Had to get up early to take daughter over to take SATII.

Gloomy here but no longer raining.

Would be at the Hunter Pace, but have to take daughter up to NC to look at Wake Forest.

Oh, well. College application stuff sure does interfere with ones pleasures . . .

Good morning! linkinpunk, thanks for the picture! Hope you can get some pics of your horses loaded soon!

We're working on winterizing this weekend I think. After some rest, the last couple days wore me out. Being in the city sucks the energy right out of me.

Our horses are having their breakfast in the barn this morning and they are reasonably pleased, and my coffee is ready so I am also content.

I've been up since 6:30 doing house work, so I can ride guilt free this afternoon:).

Altho if was fairly chilly here this morning, I believe it is going to be very pleasant this afternoon. A lady that I rode with at the ride is suppose to come ride with me this afternoon. She lives about an hour away. I haven't heard from her tho since we made the tenative plans Thurs. so it may fall thru.

No matter, I will ride anyway.

Becky

Just got back from a trail ride this morning on our Arab.

I am going penning this afternoon for the first time. My friend talked me into going. It's a fund raiser for a girl who lost her hand when it got tangled in a lead rope when the horse spooked. :-(

Re the coffee... I got out on my trail ride this morning and remembered I left my mug of coffee in the barn. Too bad because I needed it. This morning it was about 40 degrees when three days ago it was 87.

Brrrrr!

Yes, she rides a 1/2 Arab, 1/2Quarther bay horse named Kodee:). He's a pretty big guy, looks more quarter then Arab.

It's so funny. Jan carries gatorade with her when she rides, in bottles with squirt tops. When she gets the bottles out while riding, Kodee turns his head around too her, opens his mouth and she gives him a drink:), it's kind of funny to see.

She says all her horses do that.
