This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
So are you going to the doctor?
Yeah
I really liked that site. wow.
It is bitter cold here now. Wind is blowing hard and a saw a little of that dreaded "S" word. Suppose to get about 2 to 4 inches in the snow belt. I am just in at Southern tip of that.
Did you make your trail ride this past weekend?
Makes your heart smile:'). I witnessed an elderly vet get his citizenship once. I was smiling then, too.
Really, you think they are waking up? Naw!...lol Thanks for the link on the live thread, and a very nice post.
Hey - that's a pretty cool! Are they regular weatherproof turnout blankets in blaze? I like that - I'd like something like an orange sheet for the possibility of November trail rides!
Yes, they are water proof, wind proof, and breathable. Cost is around $59.00 Makes those dark horses really stand out. We do keep them in the barn during deer gun hunting season
Even there at home you worry about them during the season? Jeepers... Heh. There's some resident deer around here, but we're just a little too suburban for anyone to consider hunting from their back yard here... I think.
She ~hates~ (or loves, it's really hard to tell) the little car they have that hops across the screen.
Movie: Gidget watching Pierre Money Mart commercial (only 8 megs)
Heh... she's nuts :~D And it's not my fault. :~D
My dog flips when he hears the dogs that bark Jingle Bells. My cat has taken a couple of flying leaps at the screen now and again when she sees something move, but Gidget is too funny!
Hey,Hey! I'm feeling much better this morning. I just might be able to get my left foot to the stirrup now:')
Hair, I will have to catch your video of Gidget when I get home tonight. The price on those turn out sheets, is a little more than what I told you last night. They are on sale at $79.95.
They're pretty cool. I know it says they're breathable, but would you think the horse could trail ride in it or would they sweat in it uncomfortably? I think a regular cotton sheet would be better for my use, because I would want it for trail during hunting season.... The horses all have regular heavy turnout blankets.
Heck... I don't see me trail riding ~much~ this winter anyhow.
I would think, the rider having on an orange vest/bright clothing while riding would be enough. I'd be afraid with the winter coats they grow, a sheet, and the pad and saddle they'd get awfully warm, which would be a problem when you came back and in from the ride. JMO tho:)
Becky
I agree...
