In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
coquetry \KOH-kuh-tree\ noun
a flirtatious act or attitude
Example sentence:
In a not-so-subtle act of coquetry, Nancy smiled flirtatiously and winked at Scott as she walked past him.
Did you know?
The rooster's cocky attitude has given him a reputation for arrogance and promiscuity. It has also given English several terms for people whose behavior is reminiscent of that strutting barnyard fowl. The noun "coquet" comes from French, where it is a diminutive of "coq," the French word for rooster. Originally, in the 1600s, English speakers used "coquet" to describe men who indulged in trifling flirtations. Today "coquet" can refer to male or female flirts (though "coquette," the French feminine form, is more commonly used for flirtatious women), and "coquetry" can refer to flirtation by men or women.
Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the Word for the Day in a sentence.
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.
The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)

Explorer, I promise I'm not picking on you from the past discussion - but wanted you to know that the both the Galveston and Freeport officials have done a tremendous job of getting people to evacuate - saying they could bring pets - have a hotline set up for 'reservations' on the busses and will be loading those who reserved a spot first - taking them well inland to other cities.
The TV station is the best - saying repeatedly that this is the PROPER preparation by city officials - slapping N.O. mayor down in the process.
A friend in the Texas National Guard in Austin says they have already activated 2000 men - schools are closed, business are being asked NOT to remain open past tomrrow unless essential.
At the very least, this is making Nagin look more and more like the idiot that he is and showing how a State that had a more recent history of dealing with potential storms still wasn't ready and didn't seem to even try very hard to get ready.
Well you know what they say about girls from Tech.......we're fast

Texas officials at all levels are showing amazing competency. Unlike some of their counterparts elsewhere.
They are telling our County to "hunker down" so maybe they think we will be safe here
either that or - they are trying to avoid panic - or they figure there is no place for you to go.
Have you made your decision about bugging out yet?
Yes, no, wait yes.......no, changed my mind again........
I won't be coquettish. You may congratulate me. I a going to be a grandma again.
i am going to hope that it is your MARRIED child that is expecting and wish you MUCH HAPPINESS on another grandchild! wishing for a healthy bouncing baby@!
Congrats.
Those idiots need to have some more of their blood spilled.
Yeah that, and the fact that since I'm not familiar with Houston I had to go out to Yahoo maps to find out what loop runs around the city.
Oh, yes. Lillie is going to be a big sister. I found out by accident. Dilbert is not to be told yet, but I am busting a gut keeping it to myself.
