In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
coquetry \KOH-kuh-tree\ noun
a flirtatious act or attitude
Example sentence:
In a not-so-subtle act of coquetry, Nancy smiled flirtatiously and winked at Scott as she walked past him.
Did you know?
The rooster's cocky attitude has given him a reputation for arrogance and promiscuity. It has also given English several terms for people whose behavior is reminiscent of that strutting barnyard fowl. The noun "coquet" comes from French, where it is a diminutive of "coq," the French word for rooster. Originally, in the 1600s, English speakers used "coquet" to describe men who indulged in trifling flirtations. Today "coquet" can refer to male or female flirts (though "coquette," the French feminine form, is more commonly used for flirtatious women), and "coquetry" can refer to flirtation by men or women.
Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the Word for the Day in a sentence.
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.

Nope...been a rough year...my poor sister-in-law, though...she's got it rough. Her mom, daughter, brother ane sister all got flooded out, and she was already depressed (she has bi-polar condition, and bad kidneys, and right about the time Katrina hit, they had to change her medication because of her kidneys, and they haven't gotten it quite right yet) and she is having the roughest time.
And now the stress of waiting to see if they are going to have problems...and they had a fire not 3 years ago. Their house was mostly rebuilt.
And one of their daughters, the stupid one (stupid because I am mad at her a bit) is down on the south side of town, doesn't have a phone, won't let Mom and Dad see the kids, and otherwise is one of their big crosses - who knows what she's going to do about the storm? I'm sure that adds to their burden a lot.
Sigh.
Good grief - if anyone needs a break, you SIL should be high up on the list.
You are right about that...I feel so sorry for her, but there's not a lot I can do...
Miss Slippy is a bit far from me, but I will be heading west.
I am not sure what I am going to be doing, but you can bet I won't be sitting tight!
Saw a picture of her and YIKES! She is homely.
Good Morning Miss Rika. Did you like the pic of Chad Hennings this morning?
Where were they when I was in 3rd grade?
Let me beat every one else to the punchline: Probably kindergarden.
Stay safe Rika teacha.........
xshub says batchelder's horrible. where is she being mentioned?
What's wrong with her?
Personally, every Ohio Republican not named Blackwell gives me the heebie jeebies.
don't know yet. he just said, yes she's being mentioned, and she is horrible.
Sure it's from last year, but it is still good advice.
I didn't realize you had moved out of New Jersey.....
(For those not familiar, it is a LOOP around Houston - In Texas, Aggie jokes are equivilant to Polish jokes)

Speaking of Polish jokes....how about some POLISH Hurricane names? I'm thinking Stanley and Walter.
