Randy Moss consistently caught almost every pass the Vikings have thrown in the past 7 years, except for the 3 years he shared catches with Cris Carter (he was still better). Even so, he spent a lot of time double-teamed and getting throws from an average passing QB (no, Culpepper is not very good) and still DOMINATES. Plus, he is way better than T.-Schmo and T.O. knows it. That makes me happy.

I'm not saying this because I'm a homer, but Bill Bates, a Cowboys free agent, was a consistently top performer in tackles on special teams.

Can't argue with any of your picks but I would have chosen Bradshaw, Staubach, and Starr.

Jim Taylor could compete with any of them, including Jim Brown at running back.

Starr may not have had the ability of some but he called his own plays and was a genius at it. Also always came through when the chips were down, just like Staubach.

For that matter, Stabler was as good as there has ever been.

I disagree with your assessment of Marino. Put him on the 49ers or Redskins in the 1980s, and he could have won as many as 8 Super Bowls. He played on some of the most one-dimensional teams I've ever seen. And it wasn't because he "stunted" the running game, either -- those Dolphins teams simply had miserable running backs for the most part. Go back through his career and look at the no-name mediocrities who led that team in rushing while he was their quarterback.

No joke -- one year their leading rusher was a free agent who they had signed away from his job at a UPS warehouse in New Jersey (Bernie Parmalee, I think?)

Marino was overrated. He would complete tons of passes, but it never seemed to have much of a practical effect on the team's success. I think he stunted the running game,

What running game? The Dolphins never had a decent runner in all the years Marino played.

Marino is the classic example that a QB can't run the whole team. He could throw, and his receivers could catch, but other than that, the Dolphins had nothing.

And yet, Marino still made the hall of fame.
