Just watched Shepard Smith having and absolute tantrum on Fox News The O'Reilly Factor, complaining that reliefe did not come to the specific spot he was standing.
Petulant, Arogent, Demanding, and bitter. He's totally lost it.
What a whiner.
It gives me anguish to listen to Smith. But he's right. Quite frankly, it may be journalism that is serving the public good in it's purest form. Isn't that what we really want journalism to do?

Are you positive he's staying in a hotel? And even if he is, how much electricity can they possibly have after 5 days? Generators only last so long on gasoline---which is in short supply down there. As is running water. As for walking out of the city of New Orleans. Just how far would you make it each day with no food, no water, in temperatures in the 90's with high humidity, with the elderly and small children? On an iterstate with no shade. I'd like to see all the critics here try.
I argee and have said that if the able body residents of New Orleans started walking west on I-10 it would free up transport for the sick, elderly, and children.
I can walk easily three miles in an hour, at the end of twelve hours most of those that walked for that long could be fed a hot meal or allowed to rest in comfort in an area with electricity.
Every mile away from New Orleans is a mile towards safety, comfort, and civilization.
That Fox's reporters are getting pissed will have an effect, and is a welcome change from those Mainstream media Journalists that feel they should never be part of the news just impartial observers that tell us the story of suffering but do nothing about it.
You're right....he's gone out of his way to state that he's not blaming anyone. He's just trying to get someone to notice those people on the bridge!
What food and shelter do you think they would be at? Shep's hotel? Because I'm pretty sure there's not room there for an additional thousands more people.
I fail to see how the reporters are at fault for that. The officials in charge there told them to stay put and help would come. 6 days later....(crickets chirping)
So how far can a hungry, thirsty person walk in 80-90 degree heat and 80+ humidity? If they were allowed to?
Not with babies and elderly ill people & no food and water.
Shep's hotel hasn't had power or water either.

Shep pointed across the river from whence he arrived, at lights burning.
The power is not out everywhere south of the Mason Dixon line you know.
Across the river down the same highway shep drove in on there are lights, running water, and empth schools to sleep in.
Sheps anger is not because they didn't go to where HE was standing, but to where thousands of people were standing, among them the young, the aged and the infirm. You may have noticed a corpse or two ? If thousands of people are amassed on one spot, wouldn't you think that such relief as was available might get there.
We can discuss later why they didn't evacuate, or how each network's coverage has been, but for now if the #1 priority is saving lives, you do that by getting water, medicine and food to those who've not had any in several days.
DOn't know if you have ever been in NO in August, but it is just brutal. 100 temperature, 100 humidity. You can only stay outside a few minutes without seeking shelter, yet those people were there for hours and hours.
OH, and let's not even get into the smell.
I may not have liked Shep before this, but am certainly changing my mind. HE has shown up in new clothes each day, he's got a hotel, he has colleagues with him and a truck that probably has AC inside. His concern was not, in this instance, self-centered. He was advocating for some truly sad and desperate people.
You're right! All the reporters should just leave and go back to New York and we can all pretend like there is not a situation down there where one American needs the help of another American.
You don't think they are bringing attention to a disaster in our own country and it might just get people to open their hearts and their wallets? I pray that if some of you ever need the help of your fellowman that there is a Shep or a Geraldo to let us know.

Sadly, I think the national attention span will wane...CSI's new season is coming right? Those who are there are recording the history of this event...an American city is no more; it impacts us all...and somebody should document it.
I'm pretty sure that there was an evac order given before the hurricane struck and Shep probably didn't get there by bus.
Agreed on Geraldo...I've never been able to listen to his hysterics. But Shep seems to be trying to do everything he can to help. As for the people following him to his hotel....that's ridiculous. First of all, if they're charging $200 per night, they are gouging...illegal. Secondly, I can't imagine that the hotel will have food, water and shelter for an additional couple of THOUSAND people.
Some people here seem so shortsighted. I guess they think that solutions are so simple....just follow the news people! For all we know Shep and his crew are sleeping in their vans. Has anyone bothered to VERIFY? Doubt it.

I agree with you that Shep is very sincere and concerned for these people. So he has pressed shirts. He probably brought many shirts with him. Altho he's been wearing the same one for two days now. And he's doubling up so the sweat won't show thru the shirt as much.
And how do they protect themselves from looters during their walk out?
