Just watched Shepard Smith having and absolute tantrum on Fox News The O'Reilly Factor, complaining that reliefe did not come to the specific spot he was standing.
Petulant, Arogent, Demanding, and bitter. He's totally lost it.
What a whiner.
I like Brian Wilson too
I was speaking of Geraldo. I guess you turned off your TV. Shep said he was just above the Convention Center. Both Shep and Geraldo said there is a checkpoint on the one and only road out and anyone who approaches it it turned back.
LOL! Go look up the posts by BlackTooth, he was damned to hell by several FR posters, literally, for just mentioning that 3 days ago. Konaice....these people are no longer ALLOWED to leave. Are you getting this or do I have to post it in larger type?
NO HE HASN'T!
(And I AM shouting at YOU).
He drives in, sets up, does his shoot, and drives away. He sleeps in a 200 dollar per night hotel just down the freeway he drove in on.
Do you have any idea how far a person can walk in 5 days? Even a hungry thirsty person?
I agree. Also Shep's home or where he grew up was destroyed. He mentioned that one night. He lived in an area of Mississipi and he still had not heard what had happened. That would make anyone emotional as well.
At least they might take the posts more seriesly
They should have had some emergency plans for when all of the working people, who do all of the important jobs had to leave town or died.
The mayor and Governor need to step aside and let people get the job done. From what neither is helping anyone.
I personally think Shep has done a super job. He has been able to give this tragedy a human face. He has identified problems without assigning blame. He has brought us pictures of the human misery that are sometimes absent in the gloss over shows of flag wavers like Hannity. He has done a super job.
I would concur that O'Reilly seemed relatively cool and collected in comparison to Shepard Smith and Geraldo, but only by comparison, because both of them were near the edge at times.
However, I noticed a curious pattern throughout those segments, and also with Col. Hunt. Everytime one of them mentioned a specific mistake or failure to act on the part of the Governor of LA, O'Reilly's immediate response was to restate what they said but rephrase it saying "the federal government" failed to act quickly enough, etc., etc.
It seemed very clear to me that no matter how many times Col. Hunt or the others specified the Governor's failures or mistakes, O'Reilly was determined to, as the saying goes, "make a federal case out of it".
Mandatory and voluntary evacuation orders were given for Southern Louisiana on Saturday morning:

Mandatory evacuations for New Orleans were called for on Sunday morning:

The storm hit on Monday morning.
I am glad he did so. The media should not just stand on their bully pulpit and preach to "come hither". If they can lend an active hand, I would expect no less from them than I would anyone who had the means to help. Oftentimes it appears that they consider themselves above the fray, to report the misery rather than seek to halt it. (I think back to the CNN anchor who would not tell the military what he saw in Baghdad during the First Gulf War).
Katrina will turn out eventually to teach lessons that were not even dreamed of in the devastation of 9-11. The absolute bottom line as I see it is NEVER EVER RELY ON THE GOVERNMENT FOR YOUR WELFARE. NEVER!!
This country was built on self-reliance. And in the final analysis, you have only yourself and your family and friends to rely on.
I completely forgot about him. Also Jon Scott and David Asman.
I like him, also. I just find him hammy.
I like Bill O'R, too. I just find him campy.
It is easy to armchair quarterback (like the morning news crews from their NYC studios...the OBrien's Squared--Soledad and Miles--have been annoying at best) from anyplace that is NOT an overpass in NOLa. Those crews have been out there...in the lawless, snipering dark...give them some slack.
maybe some people should keep an emergency supply of food and water on hand to help themselves?--however, I wouldn't be a bit surprised that most of the citizens living in cities are hand to mouth and can't go 2 days without a grocery store--all you folks listening to the damned MSM with their 'hate bush crap' had another shot at him over this--plenty of blame to go around but the Mayor and Governor (both Rats) were responsible for their voters/constituents and both did a lousy job of protecting their welfare voters so now they must put blame for their incompetence and stupidity on someone else--that clown of a police commissioner crying the blues on the tv cameras (always ready for such crap) along with the NO 'emergency manager' is a damned disgrace--88 of the cops sent by the police commish couldn't even get into the center to attempt to enforce law and order but had to 'retreat' when fired on--50 armed citizens with guts (led by the mayor, ha,ha) could have shot enough of the trash to stop the rapes and worse--of course, all you Bush haters can shoot your mouths off and feel good but wouldn't, couldn't, do a damned bit better in such a horrendous situation--this should be a warning to every city in our country to get rid of 'demonrats' leadership before an emergency hits home--I realize that "it is all W's fault" that NO was placed in a swamp and has sunk lower over the years so it could be flooded easily-
Just read it and commented
It's quite amazing how many people are shoving reality away with both hands here. This thing is horrific and all they can think about is the cult of personality.
