Taxpayers? Yes, some of it. But most of it will come from private enterprise. There's a building boom looming in that area, once the water goes down. Businesses and homes will be paid for by private citizens--with help from some FEMA loans (LOANS, not gifts). My only wish is that the "projects" would not be rebuilt at all--that will likely be federal money there--or if they must be, build them LAST.

Your work didn't make me laugh this time, just sort of grimly nod my head in agreement. No one can deny the truth of your graphic, but I hope a lot of people see it and realize that things MUST change in Louisiana (not just New Orleans) or this scene will be repeated even with lesser disasters. What we're witnessing here is the fruit of so many years of liberal "leadership." All who support the concept of the welfare state, be warned. This is where it will lead you.
That said, it should be noted that not everyone in New Orleans is like the goons we see on television. We're not hearing a lot yet about the heros who gave all to help a few, and those are the New Orleanians I knew and loved when I lived there.
If there were some way to survey the looters, I think we'd find most of them came from generations of welfare mothers, who never knew their fathers, and never graduated from high school. Not all, but most.
If they can rebuild Fallujah, perhaps there is hope for New Orleans. They need to weed out New Orleans as carefully as they did Fallujah--but I know that would be "politically incorrect."

Folks really should have some sort of preparedness kit, no matter where they live. It should include self defense.

Sadly, though your proposal makes imminent sense, it goes beyond mere political incorrectness; the Leftists will label it as "hate speech."
That aside, what you say is absolutely right: this chaos is the outcome of generations of Leftist welfare statism; and it is certain that there are heroes who will rise above this tragedy...and their stories must be told.

Here's
one such story. It was a vanity, so it probably wasn't seen by very many folks. Give these ladies a medal for bravery.

Wow. That is
awesome. Those nurses went above and beyond the call. And y'know what? I'll bet if anyone seeks 'em out for recognition, their response is going to be like the heroes of 9/11: "I was just doing my job."
Thanks for that. It really made my day!

It will be full of them soon. No food. We have been waiting for the shoot to kill order to be issued. About time. You can't have freaks shooting at rescue people.
These are the left hand voting block of the corrupt city of New Orleans. It was worth it to dems keep massive housing projects in the city I guess. Some of these places were so huge they were the size of a small city. Now, these poor, dependent people have now where to turn.
You really have to have been to New Orleans to understand the massive population of poor people on the dole. I understand perfectly why there is anarchy now. This thread is on the mark. The only difference is there are no public assistance programs in Mogadishu.

Yes. Kits that allow one to run out of the house in less than 30 seconds to never return, no mater the season.
Peppermints are excellent for calming anyone with a soul. Condoms for the rare moments of feeling alive.
Sharp eyes - day and night should hunter-killer units be needed to protect the random tribes which form up from survivors. Predators are extremely dangerous; it is not just about stuff. 7

I kind of think the "New Liens" name someone mentioned on FR on one of the threds might be appropriate in the end.
