Just curious what everybody else is having to pay for gas now. Prices just shot up to $3.00/gallon for the low grade. Yikes!

$2.96 yesterday in Santa Cruz. Haven't looked today.

Santa Cruz! Spent my teen years there..(For my Texas friends: Dad in Real Estate not my fault!)

Anyway, I lived in Soquel..and Santa Cruz is where I was during Jimmy Carters gas crisis.

One night, a bunch of my friends (not me!) took all the gas caps off of the police cars parked at the courthouse. LOL!

NICE MOVE!

Funny story -- when my father was young (in the early 60's), he had a buddy who was SO proud of his car and the mileage it got. As a joke, my dad and a buddy snuck over to the guy's house every night for a week and dumped in a couple of gallons of gas. The guy was BRAGGIN so much about the magnificent mileage he was getting.

Well, then they reversed course and started siphoning a couple of gallons OUT each night. The guy wasn't quite so "enthusiastic" about things after that. In fact, they had to ASK him about his mileage -- he just looked at the ground and mumbled something like "I just can't figure it out..."

They NEVER let him in on the little game they had been playing with him.

Several stations in Arkansas are running out of gasoline. A lot of oil shipments are not moving due to the shutdown of Mississippi River barge traffic.

This morning I had to gas up. The "cheap" place in our EXPENSIVE overhyped "town" had 87 for $2.75; across the street was $2.76.

I heard not to be surprised if many of our region prices were at $2.95 or so YESTERDAY night. But not in my area.

Anyway, http://www.jewishworldreview.com/cols/williams083105.asp

$3.20 for regular in Cooperstown, NY.

Up 50 cents in two days! I noticed MAJOR hostility at the pump as well as inside the store.

P.S. I just called our local farm store to check the price of wood pellets for our stove. The lady quoted me $185 per ton if I buy today. She said the price will jump to $200 per ton tomorrow a.m. I ordered enough to get us through the winter.

Also, she warned me that the price will likely skyrocket on wood pellets because the manufacturers are beginning to use them to heat and run their own equipment AND that they will now offer any available pellets up for bid to the highest bidder.

IF YOU OWN A PELLET STOVE BETTER ORDER THEM TODAY!!!!!!
