The Hobbit Hole XXIV - Sand and Stone and Pool and Dell...
Please see our Hobbit Hole Troop Support project blog! ^

Posted on 08/24/2005 9:50:25 PM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sand and Stone and Pool and Dell...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

There's been a whole lot of tail-shaking going on in here.

Do not mock the spiritual gifts, Sister Rose.

I found a tagline!

With three threads about the finding of those hobbit-sized remains!

Hey, you think JRR Tolkien knew something we didn't?

I want pumpkin pie, too...but I'm assuming that's something you don't eat?

In some traditions, badgering is considered a form of evangelism.

Chickens are reallllly easy to roast in the oven, though. And tasty.

And the leftovers are good for soup, for them what doesn't think soup is an abomination.

I see.

I think I can figure out what the snake represents, but what about the mushrooms?

Why bother with any other pie when pecan is around? :-D

I like the smell of pumpkin pie, it's the consistency I don't like.

Good afternoon!

I gotta tell you the latest BA CHEF stuff...it's so cool.

I got the newsletter done. You recall I have never done one before last month? Well this month I got it done and it had boxed paragraphs, graphics (to take up small blank spaces) and it was four pages long! It was lovely. I get such a kick out of it and enjoy watching the ladies thumb through it having no idea the angst I originally went through.

Also, my pictorial directory is almost complete. We are short two pictures out of our entire group. TWO ladies didn't get their picture taken and we're still hoping they'll be able to email a picture in. Out of 38 members, we have 36 pictures. That's pretty darn good. It's gonna cost about $2 'cause I found color prints on sale. I am taking orders and within an hour of posting the order request, I got 14 orders! :-)

The egroup is going great. Out of our entire group, only FOUR ladies aren't part of the egroup. One of them is the leader! Ha ha! I'm going to help her log in at the next meeting. I took the laptop and got five members signed in to the egroup at the meeting this past Tuesday.

I took a look around at the meeting and just gazed at the ladies present. A room full of friends that stuck together and came together despite having the rug jerked out from under us at the beginning of the year. I was so proud of them. My heart was so full.
