The Hobbit Hole XXIV - Sand and Stone and Pool and Dell...
Please see our Hobbit Hole Troop Support project blog! ^

Posted on 08/24/2005 9:50:25 PM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sand and Stone and Pool and Dell...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

You said a mouthful there, Corin.

It's like The Matrix. Once you've swallowed the red pill, you can't ever go back to blissful ignorance.

Welcome back, stranger!

"Prodigal Spam" fits nicely in the keywords.

You know, somewhere out there (I don't think it's online right now) I've got an article entitled "Why I got back into the Fray."

I wrote it the day the seized Elian. ;-)

Oh yeah. That shook awake quite a number of folks.

Myself included.

There is just way to many issues out there to ignore some. But if you don't help pick the lesser of the evils then you can't complain much when the greater keeps getting elected :P

I would be single issue if there were not so may to pick from. On gun control I might be, since a disarmed population is at greater risk of being unable to effect change. fortunately most Republicans candidates seem to know what side the bread is buttered on with that one these days.

But see, my frustration here is that my candidate IS the best candidate on 2nd Amendment issues. He just didn't fill out this ONE survey. And I think mainly because it would be ammo (so to speak) for the RATS to call him an extremist.

They're not paying attention to their own issues.

Good morning Corin! Just don't go near those threads...

I got woke up by my pony at 4:30 am - I think she rolled over and got stuck up against the gate to her stall in the night made quite the commotion. She's fine now.

Heh...and I'm only 42! Good morning, everyone.

My inner child is forty-five years old today

My inner child is forty-five years old!

I've never really liked children, not even when I was one. I want things neat, ordered, and adult--fine wine instead of french fries, pina coladas by the pool instead of beach sand between my toes. Now if only my fellow adults would stop acting like such, well, children!

Steve Goodman's version is wonderful! I found out it was written by Michael Smith, a FANTASTIC songwriter from Chicago. I saw Michael Smith and Ann Hills at a show here in Worcester many years ago. They were just awesome. Smith's songs have also been recorded by a great bluegrass group, Skyline.

I also found out that it was Steve Goodman who wrote "City of New Orleans"! I love that song!

Unfortunately, it's a Friday morning, so I figured you'd be at work. I was trying to figure out a way to drive over and see you during the weekend, but we only have until early Sunday morning, and it looks like the college has all kinds of activities scheduled for us.

We'll see as the weekend approaches.

If at all possible, I can take the morning off and at least stop by and say "hi!"
