Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Sand and Stone and Pool and Dell...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

...and tired of all these new procedures and documentation we have to do that really, at the end of the day, is a total waste of time and energy.

That's a good way to look at things. I can remember that when things are lousy. Like today... three hours with DemonLady to start off...

Ahh, well... he lived to a good old age, anyway.
To quote or paraphrase someone or other: "People are dying nowadays who never died before."

Actually it was Pigmeat Markham that coined the phrase "Here Come Da Judge"
I think Nipsey, Flip and Sammy Davis, Jr. (along with the rest of the cast) used it.
Markham also coined "Look that Up in Your Funk and Wagonall"

Not to be a know-it-all or anything... well... ok, never mind.
Anyway, the encyclopedia was named "Funk & Wagnall's"; a WagonAll was (I think) an old station wagon model name; and Nipsey Russell was known for his "spur of the moment" poems which he presented while appearing on many a gameshow panel.

Okay, now this is really weird...
I've tried for ~several~ posts to mention that Russell was also in a film version of a popular musical. I can type everything about it, but when I put in the name of the actor who played the Scarecrow, I get a "page cannot be displayed" message. I tried typing with just the name and got that when I hit preview. But nothing else...
Some sort of filter?

Thing is, I hate making mistakes like that myself (and I do it often enough) but I can't stop myself from correcting others when they do the same thing.
I don't know why, it's an odd character flaw, I think.
