Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Sand and Stone and Pool and Dell...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

I'm psyched for Serenity even though I'm fully aware it's probably going to make me need to acquire Firefly...

Is Firefly out on DVD?
We really need Netflix.
I guess once I *finally* get a job, we can subscribe with all the money we're savin' on cable.

"Firefly" was a great series, cancelled too soon IMHO. It's available on DVD, and SciFi channel is showing it on Fridays as well.
I'm interested to see whether the movie makes any reference to the TV show, or whether it's made to be a standalone thing.

I plan to resubscribe to Netflix as soon as Season 4 of 24 comes out. But I'm going to go with the cheapest option.
$9.99 a month for one DVD at at time. Their response is so quick that won't be a problem.

We ain't saving money on cable, we're wasting money on cable internet. It's just I can live without cable but not without high-speed internet.
after all, with high-speed internet we can get the shows we really want....

Joshua loves to watch the Hitchhiker's Guide.
That said, I made some rice pudding...in the microwave. It looked awful, but actually tasted pretty good! Joshua came up to Matthew and said "I've seen it...it's rubbish."
HA HAHA!!
Now that's what we're going to call it...Microwaved Rubbish Rice Pudding.

Considering we have different tastes in addition to the shared ones, we'd likely go with more than one at a time, I'm thinkin....that way I can rent old movies, for example, without using the only slot.
But a lot will depend on income. Or lack thereof.
Keeping my fingers crossed.

Well...it was said tongue-in-cheek. I know some folks who would practically starve before they'd give up cable...and not just basic, either. More like the $80 a month or thereabouts package.

Grrr...how long to wait before calling again, since the lady hasn't called me back yet? Hm.
Could you run up there and tell 'em to shape up? ;-)

Sheesh... I don't see the point, we watch two shows a week. Netflix would be better.
Since it's Friday, if she doesn't call back by one I would try her again. You don't want to be on tenterhooks all weekend.

Just called again and got no answer. With my luck, she's out until sometime next week and hasn't changed her message.
I seem to be doomed to be on tenterhooks every weekend. Like I said last weekend...it's getting so I really hate weekends. I hate feeling helpless to do much job searching and networking.

The volunteer place isn't open Saturdays is it? You could go there and feel useful.

Not the office side of things. And they have lots of volunteers for the shelter side.
It's mostly the job search that's frustrating, anyway. I'm OK with time off. But I don't like it that I can't use it to do much beyond surfing Career Builder, knowing that anything I submit won't be seen for days.

Clare, Joseph and I are going to see it this afternoon! We'll have to leave in just a few minutes in order to get front seats that the theater. In those seats, you can put your feet up on the railings! ;o)

The whole set is available at Amazon for about $40, but Netflix DOES have them. That's how we saw them first after Paul had told us about the show.
