Looks like a Zodiac on steroids. It is... they're really cool. It's not an inflatable collar around the boat. It's a lightweight solid closed-cell foam. You shoot at it all day and poke it full of holes and nothing really happens. In fact it gives the crew a nifty bullet-absorbing thing to duck down behind.
Then they really overpower the things so they just ~jump~ outta the water onto a plane in seconds.
I'd love to have one. It would be a great boat to have around my place... but alas... they're kinda out of my price range.

Small article in today's paper about a pilot project where Coasties and RCMP sail on each other's boats on the Detroit River so they can bust people on either side of the border. If it works, it will be expanded to all other US-Canadian border waters. OK, as long as no one brings a pig... ;~D
