The Hobbit Hole XXIV - Sand and Stone and Pool and Dell...
Please see our Hobbit Hole Troop Support project blog! ^

Posted on 08/24/2005 9:50:25 PM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sand and Stone and Pool and Dell...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Er, or something. I think it's more of - my goal is to have one "system" with two portals. Sort of a two-headed monster or something.

We enjoyed The Aviator. It was a little jarring at first to hear Katherine Hepburn's 'voice' come out of Cate Blanchett's mouth, but she did a pretty good job in the role. Leonardo wasn't too bad as Howard Hughes, either.

Sorry that had to happen, Ruthy. When it rains it pours, no?

*sigh*

Glad she's handling it reasonably well!

I'm writing a romantic suspense myself ... and using a couple of Hobbit Holers for research material.

Ruh-roh...

I still don't have a plot. With Saturday marking the one-month-left-to-brainstorm point, I guess I'd better start.

I may just do something completely silly. Just because. Maybe actually really write something with as many cliches as I can think of, instead of just joking about it. ;-)

I'm almost hoping to be too busy to finish in time.

*sigh*

I went to the official site and had to sit through the delays while it loaded, and squint because it was so small, but it looks great! I'm going to try to find a full screen version of it tomorrow.

I have a yummy-licious veterinarian, a sexy retired Marine colonel, a kid, a dog, a horse, a small town, murder, money, and microchipping foo.

How can I go wrong????

Umm...no. And the only movies I've seen Ray Milland in were serious ones, so I'm havin' trouble grasping this.

Eek!

Hair and Ruthy, if she's willing.

He's delish!

But I need a snooty name ... he comes from snooty parents.

The sexy retired colonel has a flower name: Valerian Peppers, aka "Val."

The Thing With Two Heads?

That must have been a real stinker! Looks like a bi-racial Zaphod!

Oh, it's outrageously bad! Horrid! Putrid! Vile!

And so unintentionally funny ... see, Ray Milland's character is a gifted surgeon, and the biggest bigot on the planet. Rosie Grier plays a death row inmate. Bigot is dying, has his head cut off and stuck on a black man's body ... hilarity ensues!

Sounds like a movie that would go well with pizza and a six-pack so it can be MST-3K'd

heroine is a retired Marine colonel, Valerian Peppers by name.

For centuries, the tall perennial herb with pinkish flowers known as Valerian (Valeriana officinalis) has been enlisted to help restless insomniacs get a sound night's sleep...

you wanna put yer readers tuh sleep?...

or were you talkin':
