I forgot to tell you, Ramius...after watching all the Katrina coverage, the jedis are all fired up to be in the Coast Guard!
Had a rough day muhself. Stupid meetings followed by stupid phone calls followed up by stupider emails. Had 90+ messages in the inbox to work through. Redid a whole power point presentation this morning because the organizer of a dog-n-pony-briefing-show coming up on Wed said, "Er, you used the wrong template." Then we get to the dry run he says, "Oh, I gave you guys the wrong template. You had it right in the first place." Arrrrr.... I'd like to boot him off the plank, I would. Powerpoint is evil.
Vacation is great. Coming back from vacation is a total pain.
But the good news is that I'm home and that's the place I most like to be.

I just got a call from our support group leader, wanting to know what was going on. So the situation this morning has hit the streets, so to speak...
She affirmed and backed me 100%. She's going to "nip this in the bud".
Maybe that preacher man with the controversial sign was right.

I'm back! Well...been back half an hour or so. I *think* I did OK today, though I really hope they aren't reports based on the data I was entering...they ain't reliable. A lot of the forms weren't complete, and I could only enter what I had, sooo. I kinda feel like I did a lousy job, but I guess I did the best I could.
It was eye-opening. I've not really worked with anything like that before. I have a lot of admiration for the folks on the front lines.
Hehehe....send the forms back and tell the folks on the front lines to fill them out completely!
Soooo.....were you there for a full day, half day or what?
Ended up being there from about 9:30 to 3:30. So...practically a full day.
Sooo....the joint is jumping?
The main lady who was doing data entry has been ill for a long time. They have lots of records that haven't been entered. So there's still a lot more to do.
I'm going to skip tomorrow and go back on Wednesday...probably Friday, too.
Once they're caught up, it isn't that big of a deal. The one other data entry person should be able to keep up then. So I'm mostly just there to help them catch up.
I do hope someone looks over a portion of the records I entered just to be sure I was doing stuff right. Seems like a lot of stuff you had to guess. Couldn't always know if someone was head of household or how many dependents they had or what...so I was doing a lot of approximating on some questions. I asked help on some, but not all.
And it was really busy...the lady who showed me what to do basically went through about two records with me, handed me the pile o' stuff to work through, and then was on the phone or with clients most of the rest of the day, so I couldn't often ask for help.
Heh...wonder how long it will take you to catch up.
Hmmmm....I don't believe I've got a pirate movie to watch tonight.
Ain't it wonderful when we can impress our kids?
That's great, though...that you're helping them like that!
Joshua just came in and told me he was talking to space aliens in the tree fort. I said "What did they say?" and he said "I don't know...they sound like cicadas!"
I'm thinking a week and a half, if I get in as much the other days as I did today. But that's if I'm not doing something horribly wrong that will have to be rectified and require going BACK through all of today's records. ;-)
