The Hobbit Hole XXIV - Sand and Stone and Pool and Dell...
Please see our Hobbit Hole Troop Support project blog! ^

Posted on 08/24/2005 9:50:25 PM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sand and Stone and Pool and Dell...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Back! I went out for a bit - the guys from maintenance here were coming to install a new filter for our furnace, and I always feel awkward being here when they're working, so I figured I'd get some fresh air.

Walked over to the Sunflower Market. I love that place! It's kinda sorta a natural foods store, but they also have almost everything a normal grocery would carry, and for less than the normal grocery prices. Got some avocados for 88 cents each, for example. And green bell peppers were three for a dollar. They typically also have the best prices around on beef and chicken and turkey, and it's all "natural" stuff, which probably just means they get slightly better feed and it's processed in a smaller place...but hey, that's something.

They didn't have any on sale this time, but I still got a decent sized package of extra lean ground beef for three dollars, which will make enough chili or something similar to last me all week...maybe even with enough to freeze a portion. Not bad.

Also their dairy prices on stuff like yogurt and cream are better than the grocery. Often by quite a bit.

Walk, huh? Nice, it's a good day for that. Looks cool outside.

Lessee.... misused department resources to print directions to the con, check. Must finish the last two accessories to my costume tonight. Need to fill the tank. Oh, yeah, and probably I'd better get some research done too since I'm taking tomorrow totally off.

Clare wants to know what anime you were watching.

We always watch "Bleach", but last night's other selection was... er... The first word was "Ajimu" and it was a four-part OVA. We were good last night. It was last week's "Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles" and "Cutey Honey Live Action" that had a little too much mocking.

"Cutey Honey Live Action"???

Granted, that's probably a rough translation, but that sounds...rather perverted.

No, it was a live action "Cutey Honey" movie.

Drat, did *not* think about how the dwarves would take that. Ping to Talon to back me up that there is such a thing and it's not perverted. It was actually fun once we got into it.

Yep, showed that at the convention on friday night in video room E. Some light fanservice but nothing naughty. Pretty good for mocking. Much of it is clearly intended to not take itself seriously.

Thanks for defending my honor here ;-)

I don't think it took itself seriously at all which was why it was fun. A good thing for a group to watch. Not so fun by yourself I'd guess.
