The Hobbit Hole XXIV - Sand and Stone and Pool and Dell...
Please see our Hobbit Hole Troop Support project blog! ^

Posted on 08/24/2005 9:50:25 PM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sand and Stone and Pool and Dell...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Shameless.

You could just strap Alyson to the back of the saddle.

Good Morning All - Sipping a break cup of coffee, moving one fire wood pile, the area is going to be ferns and shade plants come next year. May fling some wood arrows as well. BBL

hehehehe...

Alyson would fit nicely into a saddle bag if I could cut holes out for her legs. She's a wee bitty thing.

Who at the moment is having a fit because she wants to go somewhere.

Good morning! Send 'em here, they can join the crowd.

My friend's kids and my cousin's fiancee's kids will be camping in the living room tonight :)

Use it as a name for yet another automotive dull green colour. (Izzit green? Meh...who cares as long as you can sell the paint protector)

Listen to the wise words of the Pineapple Sage. He is very wise and also tartly juicy.

Do they make child seats for saddles like they do for bikes?

Do you have one of those hiking backpacks they strap little kidlings into?

They do actually. I've seen little bumper seats that do fit on like a saddle bag to give a little security of seat, and a little handle to hang on to. But you wouldn't really want to strap them in - there's times when the best thing that can happen is for the kid to get bumped off early in the event.

I've seen women ride with babies in those front-papoose things. Not sure it's a good idea, but I can understand the desire to get out and do things.

Heh, that's pretty cute. But I'd think like you say, you don't really want the kid strapped on... probably better to wait a bit.
