Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Sand and Stone and Pool and Dell...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

We're getting some strong gusts now, 40 kts, maybe. It can be hard to tell down in all these trees. I got the AC cranked down more than usual, so if we lose power it'll take a few minutes longer for the place to heat up :-D
So far so good, though, and the radar shows the eye close to the beach up in Lauderdale, so hopefully it'll start taking her down a little soon.

They got out every warning they could think of, including small craft advisory, just in case. Then overlaid them all on top of each other until the map is nearly incomprehensible. It's cool!

Ruthy just called, she's lost power, it's getting nasty but she's not worried about anything too much, except the mourning doves in her Mango tree.

Nope - much to my chagrin and dismay. the summer didnt start off too well as far as plans were concerned. Seemed everyone wanted to come and visit in June
Do you know anything about the Shurley Method of Grammar? Is that any good? I hardly know because we used Voyages in Englsh last year, and my mother found a ViE 8th grade edition in a stash my father has owned since he was a boy! I kept it of course, but I think I need something more geared towards 6th grade.

Hang in there!
I asked Clare about her friend who I thought was looking for a school that does 3D animation, but I was wrong. She's actually looking to do a major in Sequential Art, and that is what's available at Savannah College of Art and Design. I don't think it's available anywhere else, that's why she really wants to go there. Don't think her parents want her to go that far from home, but if it's the best place for her, it would be great if she could go.

The mourning doves will know how to take care of themselves! I'm keeping Ruthy the girls and her Mama in my prayers. Sam and his lovely bride, too!
